The school organized a big tournament as an alternative to partying last night (I managed to go to the tournament and still party afterwards so there OSU). It was easily the biggest tournament I've ever been a part of, at 64 contestants.
I saw a few friendly faces from ScoreHero - Wendigo (didn't get to play), SFunk (we had a close match on Jordan), and I faced SomeDude988 in the finals. The competition was stiffer than I expected - especially in SomeDude's bracket, but luckily he beat them all.
In the finals, SomeDude picked Less Talk More Rokk (my worst song) and beat me by 8 or 9,000 points, so I picked The Light That Blinds (my best song) and managed a pretty respectable 415,000 and the win. Next, X-Stream was randomly selected, but we rejected it and got Gemini instead. SomeDude hadn't played it much so I edged him out.
I got a 20" off-brand TV for 1st and SomeDude got a neon-pink guitar lamp for 2nd (that prize kicked ass). The tournament was a ton of fun and I hope Ohio State organizes more tournaments like this in the future. _________________

Very nice Dan
Congratulations - TV is a nice prize as well!
How long did the tourney take? 64 people must have taken ages |

Thanks David.
Eh, it's not a very nice TV, but I'm selling it to my parents to put in a guest room so it turned out nicely. That $150 prize in Cincy next week is a great prize. More tournaments should give cash prizes.
And yeah, 64 people... it took about 3 and a half hours. They had two setups going simultaneously and everything was Pro Face-Off, so it went quicker than I expected. _________________

yeah i looked at the tv and lol'd. it was advertised as a flat screen, but it was an off brand.
and talking with my friends today, we all agreed that the guitar lamp was cooler, and had my friend gotten that far, he would have intentionally lost.
i too wtf pwn'd OSU by getting inebriated after the comp (even though i left after the 'sweet 16'(people i went with were eliminated)) with a handful of friends/competitors.
suck it osu (i love you). |
