Codemann you are a legend for doing all this. I'd be glad to help out bug testing after all the work you've put into the site. _________________

I forgot to mention that I think that the reason that the leagues declined in popularity is because of the HUGE amount of different leagues to join. I remember when it used to be 3 different leagues (hard, open hard, expert). There was good particiaption because of how few leagues there were. I think that last season there were more than 25 different divisions running which will obviously mean less people per division. I think that once the site re-design is done, this should be re-opened with lead divisions. _________________

The way I have this site built, is that if the number of signups for a certain league is less than 24, then the league is dropped out and not used, those members who did sign up for that league are bumped into a higher difficulty of the same game/instrument combo...if no league is a close match, then those members are just dropped out altogether and may ask them where they would like to go instead...
each of the leagues with 24 members and above will be split in divisions no bigger than 50 people a piece...so each league will range from 24-50 members...more commonly (~35-40 members)
...at the end of the regular season...all leagues will have a 16-person playoff and anyone 17th and lower ranked may enter in Round 1 Playoff scores as alternates, but only for the first round...those who DO submit scores for round 1 are re-seeded appropriately...the rest of the playoff is single elimination
I feel thats the best way to get the most participation _________________

I can tell you right now a number as low as 24 as a minimum signup will cause too low of participation by the end of the season almost everytime. _________________

True. What would you suggest? 32? 36? _________________

We need the leagues back, and I definately think that it will have more active participation this time. _________________

In more recent seasons, we aimed to have a 40 person minimum, although there are times that we did slightly undercut that. _________________

FYI everyone, I have set up a test season on the finished site...more details can be found here
@elx - I think for my first test season I'll leave the minimum at 24 but for the next one I'll try 32 and see how that goes...I think quite a few people who used to do leagues might not come back because of the announcement that leagues aren't coming back...so the participation will be hard to get from the start
...also, is there a way I can get access to post topics in this forum? I'd like to set up discussion threads for the different leagues if that's fine with SH and the staff _________________

It would also be a good idea if we could get some kind of announcement on the front page once the official sign-ups for next season start. I hope this all works out because leagues are probably the main reason I'm as good as I am right now. Thanks again for doing this codemann! _________________

Awww, that's sad, i just heard about "Leages" listening to an old episode of "SP Podcast", just too bad i will never know how it's like to be part of a GH competition.
Thanks anyway for putting it up and pleasing the "ScoreHero" community..
