impossible vocals

ok now this isn't so much 'impossible' but glitchy

ive noticed playing through the WT career again (for no real reason) i just cannot seem to hit anything in 'the joker'

the fireball just goes slightly above the note then when i slightly lower my pitch the fireball shoots right under the note making it impossible to hit any part of a phrase and failing me quickly

i've tried this various time and have re-calibrated the lag and know the song it just seems to not work

i remember someone else posting that they just couldn't do something like 'them bones' or 'nothing else matters' and i'm wondering 2 things:
1. does this happen to anyone else for any other songs
2. any ideas on how to fix it?

(BTW i'm a good vocalist, have 5* every song on WT, GH:M, and GH:SH that i've played and hold a couple of above 10th places so i dont think that's the reason)
