Yup, this is also the only fan-run community I visit on a daily basis (And have visited since I joined) and have met some awesome people through here. _________________

I rarely log in anymore, but I do still look at the forums from time to time. I've met a lot of people and even still keep up with a good handful over facebook. It's been a nice eventful journey getting to know everyone. Amazing at what one game can do. I'm sure I'll still be around for as long as SH exists.
One thing I've noticed and found fun to watch (as one of the older ones on this site) is watching everyone grow up. A lot of you guys came here when you were in your early teens and some are now seniors in high school or even starting in college, getting jobs, moving on with life. It's been amazing to watch.
Cheers to the Guitar Heroes of SH! |

step it up...
Funny story when I was in Las Vegas the "tour guide" at hard rock cafe was really into Guitar Hero and started calling out names like HellAshes, iamchris4life, and of course GHP. He never checked out the podcast though. |

Love you guys too! I've met a ton of friends from this website so it really is appreciated. With the lull in activity I wonder how much longer the forum community will really last. But we tend to have that semi-annual "What is the future of ScoreHero?" post and a year later the same people are generally still here. So we probably don't have anything to worry about.
And I'm totally with Davers, it's great to see how we're all changing and growing up. In 2008 I went to a get-together where I met 11yearoldkid when he was possibly still 11, maybe 12. I went to a Texas get together again in April and holy shit, he was 16! What! That has to the biggest "holy crap we're all growing up" moment. Hell I joined the site when I was 19, I'll be 25 in March. The change just 5 years of plastic guitar playing can make, it's mind-blowing.
Funny enough, at least 2 times I've just happened upon a ScoreHero-er in real life, unplanned. My husband works with a guy who mentioned ScoreHero and Rock Band, then he mentioned who we were, and the guy was like "REALLY? NO WAY" That was pretty hilarious. It's like we're internet famous in our own little corner of the internet. Then I also knew a couple of guys through work and school who happened to visit ScoreHero. It feels like such a small site now, but back in the day there were a lot of us... pretty crazy.
I haven't picked up the guitar since my Rock Band marathon last month, but I really wish I could just get a regular community night or something going. I tried to do it once before, but the nature of ScoreHero is just so focused on playing alone, grinding FC's and high scores. I think there are enough people to play together a couple times a month or something if anyone was interested. Every once in a while I just get a kick to want to play the game again but playing by yourself for a high score just isn't fun anymore if you suck. _________________

Speaking of hilarious stories, when my brother started dating his current fiance back in 2008, her brother was apparently watching videos of the WSVG contest in Toronto. When he was watching a video of me, my brother goes "That's my brother on stage right now" and her brother goes "OMG WAT NO WAY I NEED TO MEET HIM." I was forced to skip work that day to play Guitar Hero with him.
And continuing the subject of how old we're getting, March 31st next year marks the seventh year I've been playing Guitar Hero. It's been 7 fucking years? _________________

While I joined relatively early on, I was never very active on the forums, aside from lurking of course. It's pretty cool seeing you guys discuss different subjects (and often quite hilarious). While it seems like you guys are really close-knit, I've never had a negative experience as an outsider, which is probably a testament to how most of the people on the site are just genuinely nice people with a common interest. Upon recently playing Halo with one of the most active (and sarcastic :p) people on the site, it was pretty cool to interact with one of the biggest "Scoreheroers". Okay that was weird I'll shut up now about that. It's also cool to be able to post anything about yourself, even if it's personal and there's people that will actually give a crap and not be asses. Try doing that on a different forum 0.0
I would participate in any community thing you would organize, Hailz. It's cool to just enjoy the game instead of grinding for an FC that (in my case) hundreds of people have already gotten before. _________________

I think it goes without saying, that the way this forum was run, by the admins that have come and gone, have been fantastic, and that this experience of being a part of an online community such as this one wouldn't have been this good if it weren't for these admins.

I suppose that speaks volumes as to how much this community allows intergration between newer members and the old guard! _________________

Looking back, I can't believe I was in junior high when I joined Scorehero. I'm a freshman in college now. I've checked Scorehero every day since I joined, and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of this community. I've never had so many posts on a forum, and I've never felt as welcome as I do here. I haven't played Guitar Hero seriously in probably two years, but that hasn't stopped me from checking in here every day.
It's sad to see the activity drop so low, though. I hope something happens to get this place going again. I'll be here whatever happens, though. _________________

My god, you all make me feel, like, crypt keeper old. My five-year college reunion happened just before the original Guitar Hero was released. Yeah. I AM ANCIENT.
Anyhow: this is pretty much the longest I've semi-regularly been on a forum anywhere, technically outlasting the discussion board on the website I owned and operated in the 2000-2003 era. With cause, of course: the moderation has been generally excellent, neither allowing trolling influences free rein of the place nor turning into a factionalized site where bans are tossed about like Tic-Tacs.
I still remember how I found this site, searching online for a solution to the droopy whammy bar on my original SG controller. I distinctly remember emailing my then-girlfriend - now my ex-wife, LOL - about the place, noting that there were other people online just as crazy about this game as we were, and wasn't that neat? Little did I realize that this would ultimately lead to thousands of posts, hosting four separate ScoreHero meetups, meeting fellow site members in Texas and Ohio, getting sent to Atlantic City to rock out in a casino, performing on stage on the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, and otherwise forming deep and valuable friendships. As I've mentioned before, Hitoshura and I were both groomsmen in BreakManX's wedding. Can't imagine that any of us would've even crossed paths in a non-ScoreHero context.
GuitarHailz: someday, I'll get myself back online. Someday. When that happens, I'll do my best to be available for random community free-play activities. At least, until I become employed once again, at which point my schedule will invariably be shot all to hell. _________________

I came into this thread and I recognised just about every username, as if I were recognising a family member. I've never had the pleasure of meeting someone from SH in real life, but if any of you ever need a place to stay in Northern Ireland, hit me up, because I love you, whoever you are, you're a brother or a sister to me even if we've never spoke, and you've made my life so much better just for your mere presence in it. For me, coming to this place... is like coming home. And it always will be. |
