Hello all!

I've been having particularly annoying problems when creating custom charts that I just can't seem to figure out why they happen.

Here's the situation: I've been trying to work on some custom charts on my own, some Opeth, Kamelot, even charts from later games (Scatterbrain, Sudden Death, Ties That Bind, etc.) and earlier games (The Light That Blinds). Some of the charts have tapping notes, and I try and follow a tutorial written clearly by ExileLord exactly to a "T". However, whenever I test a chart, it never turns out the way I want it to. It always has one or more of the following problems:

1. The chart has almost all forced strum notes, except where actually appropriate that forced HOPOs actually appear
2. The song has no Star Power even though the phrases were clearly laid out
3. Random HOPOs appear in long strumming sections, sometimes throwing the bot off and making it hard to look at without vomiting inside my mouth

I've tried getting the help of Plumato, who has been gracious enough to try and give help, but still nothing works, even though I took his suggestions to heart and used them when trying to correct these problems.

If anyone could help me out, either by looking at my charts, or the charts that I want to convert, and seeing what I can do, that would be fantastic and I would be forever grateful. I will tell you something I DO know; sometimes I have to manually fix note positions, because some notes are always one or more SAMPLES ahead or behind, and that throws off the entire chart when I'm fixing it or trying to make it better.

Here are the charts that I'm currently working on that are problematic:

Kamelot - Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife) (Original) (Problem 1)
Opeth - "Harlequin Forest" and "The Grand Conjuration" (Both Original) (Problem 1 for Both)
Shadows Fall - The Light That Blinds (Conversion) (Problems 1 and 3)

Here are some charts that I worked on that are finished and/or properly converted (although one or more notes may still be out of whack):

Firewind - World On Fire (Conversion)
Jeff Beck - Scatterbrain (Live) (Conversion)
Megadeth - Sudden Death (Conversion, works perfectly, even tapping notes)
S.U.P.R.A.H.U.M.A.N.: ProtoShredanoid - GH On Tour: Modern Hits Theme (Conversion)
Timeless Miracle - Curse of the Werewolf (Original)

And just for reference, I have been using the tools provided by ExileLord; QueenBee, SectionKeyGenerator, and chartEdit, and dB for main chart production. Notepad was used to change event notes to forced notes (and tapping notes) and chartEdit was used to make sure the notes were correct before saving it as a QB file.

Again, if any help can be given, I will be very grateful.

Thanks!

You could say that Sometimes you try to do things, and it just doesn't work out the way you want it to ;D

If I understand the problem correctly, you need to put a "*" event on the notes you want to change the state of. If the note is a forced strum but you want it to be a HO/PO, you put an "*". If it's a HO/PO but you want it to be a forced strum, you put an "*". In feedback (dB), you do this by pressing "W" then typing "*" and pressing enter on the note you wish to change.

To find out how HOPOs are "calculated", then there is a nice in-depth explanation in the custom song FAQ.

If you could send me the chart, I could look into this for you. All I can really suggest based on this information is to check that you have the SP note on the correct track in a midi editor. Remember, you have to specify it for each track you want the SP to appear on separately.

Lol. Again, I would suggest using *'s and checking the FAQ to see why they are appearing. It sounds like you might have a funky QNPB set in your editor? Check everything in anvil studio.

If none of the above helps, try re-creating the charts in dB (I know it's a pain) and don't worry about SP or text event until you're satifsfied that the chart plays as you want it to. I know it's a pain. But text events are different depending on which version of GH you're loading your customs into. Try to eliminate each potential problem 1 by 1.

Hope I've been of at least some help. Good luck bro

I don't think you are very up to date with the tap notes. You can use anything you want to force it note, note just *.

As for OP, are you replacing with N 6 0, converting the chart to an array, and importing it via Queen Bee as tutorials show?
