Once getting hooked after playing a dumbed-down version in an arcade, I have a few questions concerning how to get started.

I'll get BMUS first since that sounds like the best way to ease into it, but does the controller have 7 keys? Pretty sure it does since I read somewhere about there being a 5-key and 7-key mode, but since I fully plan on getting IIDX imports (Swapmagic FTW), it would be best to not need another controller.

Also, I read a lot about Happy Sky, but are there any other styles that would be recommended?

The US Controller is all you need for 5 keys and 7 keys. The best styles...

Happy Sky is just an awesome all-around style. Get it first.

RED has a very diverse selection of music. Also really great.

10th is really trance-oriented. My personal favorite style.

If you like ddr music, look into 7th style. It has:

.59
5.1.1.
A
Absolute
Abyss
B4U
Bad Routine
Burning Heat
Can't Stop Falling In Love
Colors
D2R
Destiny
Dive (Into Your Heart)
Don't Stop
DXY!
Dynamite Rave
Era (Nostal Mix)
Frozen Ray
Happy Wedding
Hlic
i feel...
I Was the One
Kakumei

Max 300
Moba Moga
More Deep
Mr T (Take Me Higher)
Murmur Twins
Remember You
Spin the Disc
Still in my Heart
Stoic
Sync
The Earth Light
Tomorrow Perfume
V

And those are just songs that have appeared in DDR. There are a lot more awesome songs on there (Case in point: Spooky)

Haven't heard much DDR music, so I'll probably pick that up just to make a decision. Thank you both for your time!

Boy o Boy so many styles to choose from.

I love every style to its own merit. I personally would have to pick 6th style as it was the one I grew up with due to it's dragging hiatus before 7th & above came out.

Although glad to see the Ps2 versions catching up. It was all in due time.

The main problem I have with 7th style is that I just can't get used to the interface... blah.

Great styles to start with would be anything from 6 on. Happy Sky is a definite must buy.

The US controller will work for any version of the game, 5-key and 7-key. It is also reversible.

If you don't mind waiting two more months after getting BMUS, DistorteD comes out in August, which probably has the largest number of new songs I want to play.

As for what styles to get, I suggest getting the OSTs for the later styles and making your choices based on which songs you like.
