So as many may find me insane for this mod here it is.

THE ULTIMATE GH/RB FENDER SG: this is a fairly complicated mod and is NOT reversible!

YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING :
(sorry for the plug but i was able to pick up a used black SG for PS2 from gamestop for $8)
TOOLS:
1. Some sort of cutting device (I used a hot razorblade and 1/16 drill bit.)
2. wire stripers (razorblade again will suffice)
3. splicing connectors (electrical tape and solder will do)
4. Phillips screwdriver
5. drill (and 5/64 bit... and if "#1" a 1/16 bit)
6. lots of patience

a basic wiring diagram:

What I have done here is taken a RB Strat striped the logic board, wireless board, start/ select board and replaced it with the logic board of a ps2 SG which has the strum switches surface mounted on to it, with the start select board of the SG.
i have used the whammy bar as well as the strat pot switch for the whammy as the SG and the STRAT both contain a B10K pot switch for this. and wired this directly in place of the SG whammy to the SG logic board.
using the 10 button or 2x5 button frets from the body of the STRAT hard wired into the SG logic board.
the start select board from the SG i left alone and used this in the design.
then the PS2 cord running out the hold for the wire sync button..

some pics of the finished design:

BENIFITS
PLAY ON ALL GH AND RB
10 BUTTON ACTION
SG SOLID STRUM
SLICK DESIGN

DRAWBACKS
NOT WIRELESS
NO tone SELECT SWITCH IN RB

here is the SG post-op you can see how i actually completely removed the entire assembily mounting post and all when you do this the size of the cut from the SG is not as important as the cut into the STRAT. you will need to remove the white cover and cut 1" by 3.5" hole in the STRAT. Dont worry about making either cut pretty you will have to do some custom fittings once you are ready and the white inlay will cover your cuts. just be sure not to cut any major mounting posts in the STRAT that hold the frame together. you will however be cutting one of the post that hold the tilt switch i relocated mine to the wireclip above the strum bar. minor triming will be neccesary though i do not have exact measurements. the 1" x 3.5" does need to be as close to this size as possible starting your hole from the end of where the fretboard is mounted. once you have cut this hole the SG strum housing fits perfectly into this hole flush to the ouside surface once you have cleaned up the inside a little.

I am putting a ps2 wireless GH controller in the 360 RB controller, WITH the original still attached, so it will work on any system or game, sept GH2 for 360.

if any one is interested in the specifics i don't mind putting together a step by step guide i am not sure how the moderators feel about posting wiring diagrams or things of that nature so i would need approval from one to post that sort of thing first.

Posting wiring diagrams is not only accepted, it is highly encouraged. Probably half of the links in my guitar modding guide have wiring diagrams and detailed guitar schematics.
Feel free to get as detailed as you can be with as many pictures as you feel is necessary.

that is awesome, can you use the tapping buttons in gh like in rock band or do they act the same as the top frets?

Do the solo buttons still function as designed during solos in Rockband? Or are they now just regular fret buttons?

I was wondering the same but I would assume they are regular frets.
I didnt read over all over it but i would guess if all 5 solo buttons were also spliced into a strum up or down wire then youd be in some serious business, and tapping out of solos

So you wired the whammy straight up? Cause I am having trouble getting the RB logic board to work with the SG whammy pot in my Start to SG conversion.

that is correct you would need to bulid a circuit to close the strum in order to get this effect. not a difficult task if you have the know how and you could even wire it so that it only did this with the solo fret... however in this mod as is both sets of frets are as the GH frets would behave since i have added no additional circuitry and i am using the SG logic board.
