Leaderboards are up to date, for today, 09/09/2015, enjoy. This week, it was the Hard board that got no love. For Easy, we had DrSham manage more 1st places and a bump of 452 points, proving he is really dedicated or insane. Medium saw Chrisss go up 1,725 points about par for him, nice work. Expert had (848) points from xbillax, (1,200) points from PinkiePie91, 34,523 points from Kerfoot32, 121,158 points from 2003041, 266,298 points from EXEprog527 with a ranking bump to boot, and a surprise return from FL4RE with 530,920 points. I will give the nod of the week to FL4RE, for most points, welcome back! Pretty decent week, lets hope for more excitement next time around.

As for me, pool, work, Diablo3, Hearthstone, Labor Day. Labor Day was nice, got to see a lot of family on both sides, so yea for that. Hearthstone, I think I may finally be done with, it just doesn't interest me, seems like work, and I honestly cannot remember the last time I enjoyed it. Lasted a full year plus on a game I spent $0 on so that's not bad. Diablo3 continues to be a huge time sink due to the patch changes, and I failed 4 more times on GR 59 going for a new record. Work has been much quieter this week, with things all getting back to normal and me largely getting caught up. The pool was great... until Sunday. Sunday I turned on the pump, then turned it off that evening, only to discover the pool was 60% empty. Turns out the collar that joins two of the pipes finally let go and leaked water out, for eight hours. The next day, my father in law helped me fix it, and I have added water and most of the chemicals back to it. The pool will likely be back to normal this weekend, but, summer temps are gone, how ironic. Ah well, have a good week all.

Leaderboards are up to date, for today, 09/16/2015. Changes happened on every board this week except for Easy, pretty normal there. Over on Medium, we had 11,986 points from the ever reliable DrSham, and 350,977 points and a ranking bump from solrac7623. On Hard, it was DrSham again, with 76,224 points, and (159,978) points from Kerfoot32. Finally, Expert had (1,036) points from PinkiePie91, 6,332 points from Kerfoot32, 31,087 points from tt122112, 58,843 points from 2003041, 101,888 points from RobGHH and an epic couple of FGFCs, 167,671 points from AnarchyInTheCA with 7k more on the Grand Total, and an astonishing 5,288,956 point gain from EXEprg527 for the week. Pretty impressive week all around, I will give the nod to RobGHH for somehow managing to FC TtFaF and BB in the same week, a truly magnificent week of work. Lets hope for more excitement next week, keep it up folks.

As for me, nothing new, work, Diablo3, pool. The pool is back to normal, and is almost 80 degrees again, now that we are having our Indian Summer. Diablo3 remains a huge time sink, and I am starting to be done with things I want to do non season, so it likely means I will start a seasonal character soon. Work has died down and is back to its normal level, which means life is good again. Have a good week all.

Leaderboards are up to date, for today, 09/22/2015, enjoy. Boards were very quiet with the only changes to Hard and Expert. For Hard, it was Chrisss, with 5,242 points, nice work there. Over on Expert, we had 1,716 points from Jellu, 4,045 points from Chrisss on the Grand Total, 5,127 points from PinkiPie91, 23,944 points from AnarchyInTheCA, 89,930 points from Kerfoot32, 91,010 from 2003041, and a pretty massive haul of 1,142,398 points from RobGHHH whom continues his rampage on GH1 (note, he is 35th with according to him poor scores and still doesn't even have a score for every song yet). I will switch things up and give the nod to Chrisss, whom was the only player to feature in all three board updates this week, great work to him. I wonder what is in store next week, will we get more FCs or at least scores from RobGHHH? Will Undead finally FC ItO? Will the FC rivalry and the impending release of new games inspire more players? We shall see.

As for me, the usual stuff. Work has been a lot more relaxed, and fingers crossed, I think I eliminated the last major issues to start the year at both locations. This will make life a lot easier, and more or less back to normal. For Diablo3, I finally passed GR 59, and have both weapons slightly improved, so maybe I can hit my goal of 60 after all. My friend has been hitting D3 very hard lately, and it has been great to play with someone whom is serious about the game. This lets my wife, myself and my friend push GRs together, something the other friends I have were unable to do. The pool is drawing to its end for the year, not sure if I will close it this weekend, or wait for two weeks. This weekend I don't have much going on, but the weather is supposed to be 85/50 pretty much through next week, so the option remains to keep it open. No more issues to report about it since the line breakage, so its been pretty quiet. Other than that, I am back to exercising twice a week, albeit slightly less impressive than before school started. Next week I should start back on my third day of exercise again, so I guess that's something. Have a good week all.

Leaderboards are up to date, for today, 10/02/2015, enjoy. There were very few changes at all this week, all of them over on the Expert boards. For Expert changes, we had 1,230 points from AnarchyInTheCA on the Grand Total boards, 2,178 points from 2003041, 8,440 points from Kerfoot32, 16,903 points from EXEprog527 on the Grand Total boards (I am sensing a theme here, what is with the handhelds/BH this week?), and what is that on the horizon? Rising from his grave its, can it be? smokyprogg! he's back and debuts on the Expert Total board for the first time since WoR was released. Smoky debuts with 207.477,049 points, making his the longest gap in board history from falling off one board and getting back on again. Welcome back smoky, you get the nod of the week for showing us all that you still care, at least a little, about plastic guitar games. As the countdown to the new GH game approaches, I am hoping for more excitement next week, we shall see.

As for me, nothing new, Diablo3, work, exercise, pool. The pool is likely on its last week, as the night time temps are approaching that magical mark of 40 degrees, making the pool uninhabitable for anything but penguins and polar bears. I will likely close it next weekend for the winter. Diablo3 continues to hold its thrall over me, and I am now experimenting with other classes and builds, with the hope of at least clearing GR 45 with each class, crusader will be last, and likely the toughest of the 6. Work has been way too quiet, I keep waiting on the other shoe to drop but nothing so far. Oh well, hooray for easy days at work. Have a good week all.

Leaderboards are up to date, for today, 10/07/2015, enjoy. There was only changes to the Hard and Expert boards this week, DrSham seems to be done on the lower end finally. Speaking of DrSham, he leads off the Hard boards, with 201,053 points, and Kerfoot32 added (25,229) points on the O211, decent week guys. For Expert, we had (991) points from PinkiePie91, 11,990 points from Kerfoot32, 17,124 points from Peachfanclub (whom is long overdue for the board, sorry about that), 26,048 points from AnarchyInTheCA, 33,201 points from Kubuh (welcome back!), and 10,044,758 points from smokyprog. The nod of the week goes to smoky, again, whom proves that you can now have 217+ million points and not be on both boards, you might want to grab BH at some point. Pretty impressive week on Expert guitar anyway, I expect more action in the coming weeks leading up to GH Live.

As for me, more of the same, work, Diablo3, and exercise. Exercise is going well, I can now finish my new 42 minute workout on the elliptical, good enough for nearly 700 calories and 3 miles at a go, tough but I can do it. Work has been almost too quiet, and thus I have a fair bit of browsing time. With said time, I have spent a bit checking out RB4, and am now trying to convince the wife to lay down essentially $700 after tax for a new system + full band kit. The good news is, the RB4 engine looks great, I would be going from PS3 to PS4 and all that DLC is now available, and Harmonix has indicated they will try to honor game exports (RB1, 2, GB, Lego, AC/DC). They are discussing options on RB3, but I am guessing it will end up being a track pack that you will have to buy again. For Diablo3, I hit my goal on my non seasonal Barbarian, clearing a solo GR55, so that, combined with unlocking (but not quite finishing ) a GR60 with the WD means its time to move onto a new character. The pool may get closed this weekend, maybe next weekend, I am trying to decide, but its that time of year. Have a good week all.

Leaderboards are up to date, for today, 10/13/2105, enjoy. The only action was for Hard and Expert, par for the course these days. For Hard Guitar, we saw 138,661 points from DrSham, I wonder if he is getting close to his redux goals yet. On Expert, it was 420 points from PinkiePie91, 129,525 points from Chrisss, 183,954 points from smokyprogg, 212,696 points from EXEprog527, 541,890 points from AnarchyInTheCA and his debut on the O211 boards, congrats to him. This week the nod goes to Anarchy, whom has been slowly but steadily getting in scores for all of his songs and it has finally paid off with a solid showing on each board, nice work! Lets see how much action you guys generate before the new game launches next week.

As for me, Diablo3, pool, exercise, and Rock Band. Diablo3 still holds sway with most of my free time, and I can honestly say that I now have 4 very very well geared classes and high GR to show for them. Exercise was only once last week, as I had a cold, nothing nasty, not even enough to miss work, but made breathing harder, so I only worked out once. This is the last week for my pool, as the weather is finally cooling down. As such, we will be celebrating Octoberfest in the pool on Thursday, and the current prediction is for 81 degrees here, a very nice day indeed. My cousin and I were in it for 2 hours yesterday in similar conditions, and while the pool was 68 degrees, we got used to it in a minute or so. I will be taking off two days of work to celebrate/close the pool, so yea for that.

In other news, my wife is totally and completely amazing. She agreed to let me buy a brand new PS4 and a full rock band bundle for RB4, for the total of $715 after tax. I think the main selling point for her was having a working drum set again, as we have three broken ones, and there being no way to get new ones for the PS3 and RB3. We setup the system and the instruments and tried to play. Little did we know, that in the PS4 world, you have to have a seperate user PER CONTROLLER. That is, each user has to sign in as a PSN account or a guest to allow more than one controller to be active in the game, at least for RB4 as that is the only one I have at the moment. Once we setup PSN accounts for all 4 of us, we were able to get the guitar and drums to join, the microphone to be seen, and after a few issues, the Logitech guitar to join. This allowed us to have our 4 part band, and Friday night Rock Band sessions are now a thing again at my house! We played a few songs, then started career mode and got through about 20 songs until our vocalist called it quits for the night. 1.5 to 2.5 hour sessions were the norm last time, so it will come down to how good my wife's stamina is for drums for future play sessions. My thoughts on Rock Band 4 follow.

The guitar is really really nice this time around. The RB3 strat was way better than any before it, even Beatles, and other than the lack of a solid click, beats out all the licensed Guitar Hero guitars I have used. For reference, I own 2 RB1 strats, 2 RB2 strats, a Beatles strat, a Logitech PS3 guitar, GH1 guitar, GH2 wireless guitar, Gh2 wired guitar, Gh3 guitar, GHWT guitar, GH5 guitar, BH guitar (I think its identical to 5 but not 100% sure), and a WoR guitar, and the Fender Strat for Pro Guitar on RB3. This beats all of them handily except for the Logitech, and is very responsive. Plus, I have a 7.1 speaker setup and a projector, and the calibration with the strat was not only very accurate, but super easy. The solo buttons stick way less, the raised divider is less sharp and hard on your fingers, the frets are more responsive and fell less squishy, and the guitar neck has a better texture for holding it. I give the guitar an A+, and cannot stress enough that it is the best instrument Mad Catz has made to date.

The microphone is wired, and while it seems to be responsive and accurate, wires suck. We have two wireless Logitech mics, so if I can manage to make them work, we will almost certainly switch to them. The biggest issue with the vocals is the lack of being able to activate star power with the controller, with was in RB3, but is oddly, and jarringly absent in this one. You can activate star power by: yelling, sharp sounds, shaking the mic like a dog shakes its chew toy, or rapid drumming on the mic head. None of these are really optimal choices, so I really hope they find a way to patch in controller activation. The addition of octave lines is a very big plus, and helps in knowing where to sing, and the pitch correction is present again as well. The freestyle vocals are okay, but nothing exciting, unlike on the guitar, where crazy fun can be had. Overall I give the mic a solid B-, its better than previous mics (RB1, RB2, BH) but doesn't seem to add much over my existing Logitech mics, and lack of controller activation sucks.

For drums, right away you notice a big difference. The pads rebound better, there is not a requirement to hit in just the sweet target area, as now the full head is responsive, and the pro cymbals work from previous drum sets with zero issues. The drum heads definitely sound quieter, and you don't have to abuse them (most of the time) to get 95+% accuracy like the RB2 kits. I say 95% as my wife is about that level for Hard Pro drums, she doesn't like expert due to the massive amount of kick petal required. The pedal seems stiff and harder to use, but likely that is due to not yet being broken in. Callibration seems a wee bit off compared to the guitar, but then I think we were used to a bad calibration on the RB3 and just need to relearn. Overall I give the drums a solid A, of course long term use will tell us much more. For the record I have a broken wired RB1 drumset, two RB2 wireless sets with the pads coming off, and a GH set.

Overall, I give RB4 a grade of a B-. The setlist has lots of deep cuts, and you certainly cannot complain about a lack of genre diversity. For the first time on disc, you now have country, indie and death metal, but the selection choices are less than stellar in many cases. In addition, its awesome to see two more of the big holdouts on a plastic guitar game, this time Elvis and U2 are on disc. This still leaves (counting both GH and RB) no Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin or Madonna, regardless of how you feel about any, those are really big artists that have no presence. There is no longer an annoying sound effect for scrolling between songs, so thats huge. The game has very very tiny hitching compared to the issues that RB3 had, at least for me and a 900 song library. Importing songs by redownloading them from the store was tedious, but at least 95% of the DLC is available from the get go from PSN to PSN, which was a huge selling point. Sadly, lost licensing made some of my favorite packs go away, and a few songs claim "you have this installed already" but does not appear. The in game store is HORRIBLE, and crashes about 75% of the time, plus is now no longer sortable by new additions, making finding new tracks very difficult. Hopefully, at least that oversight is taken care of, or I might buy very few tracks/packs this time around, and I bought 700 + songs on the PS3. Harmonix has also indicated they will try to honor Exports from games (RB1, 2, GD, AC/DC), but at present that is missing, as is Blitz. The game is solid, but has no noticeable upgrades over RB3, and the graphics are barely better considering I had to buy a newer generation of hardware to play it on. It is solid, and I will likely end up sinking 1000+ hours into it, but a noticeable step up from RB3 it is not.

Sorry, long winded, but I thought it might help some folks. If you made it this far, have a good week all.
