Going back to GH2 for old times sake I realized I had an untied first place score on Gemini (Expert) that was set over 10 years ago (technically on March 2nd, 2013 as the final result of season 14 of the SH leagues lol). This left me wondering what the longest standing untied was on GH2 Expert, and obviously I'm too lazy to check everything so I thought I'd make it a rivalry topic to brag about it a bit, discuss the current untied scores and possibly revive some sort of interest to tie and even beat them. I will try to update this with some stats and insight on the current standings for GH2 and possibly other games if I feel like it.
EDIT: Turns out the oldest untied was set on October 22nd, 2007 (merely days before the release of GH3) by Lo7 on X-Stream, with an outstanding score of 509,286. Second place, held by the legendary Fug, is off by a tick and is the only one in 12 years to have reached a score this close to Lorenzo's. More edits to come for a comprehensive list of the current untied scores.
EDIT 2: Since I was looking solely at PS2 and not cross-platforms I was wrong, the actual longest standing untied is on Surrender by iamchris4life.

But seriously, it would be pretty cool to see some of these scores get taken down. I've thought for a long time that GH2 was one of the least optimized games in the series. Good luck to anyone beating tanner's scores, especially if he used lag calibration tricks. That's just insane.
...I might be tempted to re-learn how to squeeze GH2. Maybe it'll give me an excuse to work on Jordan as well. |

The boys are back in town! Let's fire up our PS2s and get some old-schools rivalries going. I'm already feeling the frustration from restarting over a stupid random miss in the ending of Less Talk More Rokk, and not even from attempting to squeeze, lol. Can't imagine the frustration of restarting over a stupid 40% squeeze or a whammy bar malfunction during the perfect run.
@Cabanon: the lists you provided are not exhaustive, but thanks for the contribution! I see there are far more than 2 untied 1sts on GH80sX. Gotta look further than the harder songs ;)

Whelp, if nothing else, this thread got Jprez back onto GH2 and with his latest demolition of scores, he now is 1st overall. I wonder how many of those scores we posted he has now bettered.

Have you been able to address lag? I appear to need a negative value for the ingame lag calibration on GH1/GH2/GH80s. I actually booted up GH3 on 360 and I swear they patched the game or something - it now has both Video and Audio options, whereas I remember it only having a single lag value like the old games.
Actually yeah A/V is the correct way to handle negative numbers for the old single value huh. Well... is there any way to get them in or simulate them? It's really hard to play the old ones for me at the moment cause the audio is so far ahead of the video :/
Also I need to do some soldering work on my 360 LPs lol rip but hey I mean at least I have them at all, those shits are rare these days

Negative values are awful, not much you can do about it. I would advise to use a CRT at all costs. Works fine for me, and I blame the terrible guitar controller for any stupid misses. That would be my PS2 SG, while the Wii WTar is still functioning absolutely perfectly.

I went through all the guitar only games and this is what I found. This was all done manually so possibly some mistakes. A lot of the scores earlier in this thread have been tied or beaten so are no longer untied. It would be great if there was an easier way to do this..
