I haven't played GH/RB, nor been involved with the community since 2010, and I've been playing a lot of competitive Melee since then.

I was wondering if anyone in the GH/RB community also plays Melee competitively, or at least follows competitive Melee.

If so, what tag do you go by? Which character do you main? How often do you go to tournaments?

Where does one find "competitive Melee tournaments"?

Smash tournaments can be found here: http://www.smashboards.com

I don't have the time to get that good at SSBM, but I have friends who compete (or have) and I have to say the mechanics of that game make it perfect for competitive play. I love how fast paced and technical it becomes, how every movement is a semi-exploit of the system. (For those that don't know, most tournament players don't just press left or right on the joystick to move forward, because it's literally faster to jump diagonally forward then air-dodge diagonally down before your character even leaves the ground, causing you to slide forward a foot or two. These guys literally move around like that, "wavedashing" repeatedly to move.)

I can hold my own with Marth, but I'm pretty bad with most every other character.

Captain Falcon main here.

I used to attend the local monthly tourneys here, but I stopped because I'm too lazy to drive down to the arcade.

Yeah.

Does Project M count? I have been playing a shit-ton of that game with my friends for a few months and it's got to be one of my favorite mods I've ever played.

Project M wise, I don't believe that there are many tourneys around here for Melee, much less Project M, but I would probably go to them because they sound like a lot of fun. I use most of the characters in Project M and can hold my ground with everyone bar Dedede and Pikachu, but my favorites are Shiek, Jigglypuff, and Game and Watch. The juggling and air denial with these guys is just too powerful.

I also do like watching competitive Melee vidyas I stumble across, it's crazy to see how good some of these players are. Hungrybox is the reason I love using Jigglypuff lol

By "eventually the scene died", did you mean the scene in your particular area? Because the Melee scene overall is still alive and growing.

The competitive scene in Holland died ages ago. And Brawl didn't help as well.
