Les Paul dropping holds when I use whammy bar

Hey

My Les Paul seems to be dropping holds when I use the whammy bar tonight
Say I'm playing a song like Story of my Life, and I use the whammy, it automatically drops the hold when I am still pressing the button.

I"ll play again tomorrow and see if it's the same thing, but any help would be helpful. I could also buy a new guitar since its only about 20$ on ebay :P
