you are supposed to put in what the game tells you have.. i assume the game shows you got a 5*... type that in and if the cutoffs have been proven for that song scorehero will automatically make it a 7* for you.

The 6+ star rating doesn't appear until either the 4- or 5-star cutoff has been proven for that song on that level. Until then you have to enter 3, 4, or 5 stars manually.

I like the 6,7,8 stars on this site. This site has really extended the life of my game due to 6 and 7 stars.

On 360 extended rating is not activated on all the songs. Well, except for Easy

This can sometimes get confusing when submitting scores due to the habit of entering the Rating (3-5) number. I noticed in the song rankings that there are quite a lot of scores incorrectly submitted with 5% Notes Hit (was meant to be 5 stars).

So may I suggest the following:
1) Add a check and automatically reject scores with % Notes Hit < 10%
2) Instead of completely removing Rating (3-5) when the extended rating is activated, leave it there but without an editable text field (you could put 'automatic' or something like that).

Nope not in any current GH official songs. The limits are pretty much tapped out for all official songs, except for jordan and a few others all of which are nowhere near close enough to 9* anyways. Of course it would be possible to make a custom song that had 9 stars and might not look too crazy style-wise compared to the GH pantheon (which means that we might possibly see 9* in a future official GH release), and if somebody got really crazy (and didnt care about conforming to normal GH style parameters) they could make a custom that you could get 7.9+ average multiplier on.

Maximum star rating posible remember doesnt measure the total number of points of the song when compared across songs, it measures some combination of the density of gettable SP along with the non-uniformity on points distribution and how easily that is exploited by a particular SP path. The first is why Monkey wrench (which is a relatively high scorign song) is actually the lowest in terms of maximum star rating, and the second is why MW is only possible ot 7-star on Hard compared to the other diffs where you cant.

EDIT: for those who are interested in a 7.9+ avg multiplier rated song, the algorithm to create it would be to break the song into repeated chunks of two single note SP phrases in one measure followed by 4 measures of three note chords as dense as they could get. Then you repeat that to infinity to remove any effects of the first 29 notes. The actual maximum possible theoretical star rating would depend upon the amount of poitns in the phrase section (a) versus the activation section (b). The average multiplier for such a section (in 4:4 time) would be calculated by the formula 4*(a+8*b)/(a+4*b) (derivation left to the reader). obviously the best value for a is 100, whereas if you assume that you cant have anything larger than three note chords or faster than 16th notes (basically hte limit style-wise except for trogdor), b would be 2400, and the maximum possible avg multiplier would approach 7.9588 (star rating: 11.445).

Also, just a minor annoyance, in any of the scores pages I would set the Ratings column left-justified so that extended and non-extended star ratings align properly.

I just posted a score for an FC of Freya for 9th place on medium and did not get a 7 star rating. According to the site a score needs a 4.4x to get 7-stars (which I have) and proof of the cut offs, which if I read correctly exsists. Am I missing something?

I see what is happening now, I was on the wrong page. How do I submit proof for 7-star cutoff? There are no links on the all cutoffs for the 360.

Are these not good suggestions?

You could even make it so that the Rating field automatically updates itself to the correct value for songs with known cutuffs when you enter a number in the score field (but that would require an extra database lookup).

I really like those suggestions, and they wouldn't be too hard to code in, but I'm gathering that JCirri is a bit swamped at the moment. Is there any way some of this work can be spread around? Seems like there's a lot of good ideas, but not enough manpower to implement them all right now.
