Hey all,

I just did a wireless mod, the EMS mod, except I made it pernament and everything soldered inside of the guitar, including a power on/off switch at the head of the guitar.

I have mixed feelings about this. Don't get me wrong, its badass playing with no strings attached, but it only runs at 900mhz wireless signal. Which means, a slight lag. Don't do the EMS mod, those who said that its flawless, they're wrong. I even tried it on the highest frequency (920mhz) and it actually gets a lil worse.

Well, just saying, my suggestion, if you want to do a wireless mod, go with hacking a 2.4ghz controller.

There's about a 1/4 second lag in the controls.

I have no problems finding out the hard way, just something to not do in the future.

Plus it was a fun little project, and impressed my friends that it was wireless, even though it did lag.

Latency in the conversion of signals is much more important than the total bandwidth available for the transmission. All radio signals travel at the same speed independent of hz, however some frequencies are less prone to noise and may have a larger range. Changing to a different frequency doesn't automatically mean less lag, but the other transmitter/receiver might be of better quality. This is a common problem also seen in wired solutions like ps2 -> usb converters.
