Alos, make sure you use 161 as the threshhold value for sustained notes rather than 240. I've known this for a while but I hadn't updated my document. Similarly, use 161 as a threshhold when when determining if a "non-sustained" note should be thrown out due to processing rules 5a and 5b in my documention (the "invalid nptes" rules().

Some other suggestions. I'd like to see additional text at the top including song name, band name and optionally the number of notes in the song counted in the same way as GH2 does it, i.e chords count as one note. Similarly I'd like to see optional total chord count and sustained note count. These three optional counts provide a quick means of finding errors in the processing rules if they occur.

Very nice work.

Looks like there's some missing notes in measure 52 of YRGM-Expert Guitar.

Cheers guys!
I'll look at those missing notes tonight, JC.

And Riff, I was of course using 240 as per your documentation, but that missing note was 181, so I changed to that. Will change to 161 now.
Regarding the different note counts, I'll look into adding that, sounds like a good idea.

The threshhold value of 161 was verified using a custom midi file placed into GH1. I doubt that they changed the threshhold value for Gh2.

The hammer-on/hammer-off display rules for GH1 are:
  1. The first note of the song is not a HO/PO note
  2. The previous note cannot be a chord
  3. The current note cannot be a chord
  4. The previous note cannot be the same color as the current note
  5. The current note must not begin more than 160 ticks from the start of the previous note

The actual behavior of HO/PO notes in the game is a little different. Chords do allow HO/PO even though they are displayed with a black ring. Additionally, single notes allow HO/PO as long as the start of the note occurs less than 161 ticks from the *end* of the previous note.

Man!

I specifically asked if somebody was working on these in the other forum...and here it was all along.

Thanks a ton for these....and I am oh so glad you decided to use a white background...it is much easier to use and mark up with pencil/pen when you print it out.

Actually rabies, I saw your request and put in some work to tidy up my rendering

As soon as I have time I will implement all the suggestions and corrections I've received so far.

And thanks Riff for the HO/PO explanation, I'll add those to the charts as well.

Hopefully I'll be able to release a beta of this program soon for all of you to try out..

I'm using a program I'm working on myself.
I have some more bug-fixing and polishing left to do on it before I release a version for you all to try out.

The program lets you explore the contents of the game archive and view images, play the music and view the notes for the different tracks/difficulties.

I added support for exporting images of the note charts because I saw a request on this forum about it.

I've only been working on it after work and weekends the past 3 weeks, so it's still in its early stages.

I will most likely not implement support for extracting files or saving .vgs files as .wav/.mp3 because I feel that would do more harm than good and infringe a bit too much.

More to come.

Fantastic job on this, katamakel. I really like how clean the layout is. As far as suggestions, I think everything has already been pointed out.

So you are going to have it view the .bmp_ps2 files? Am I reading that right? That would be awesome if that's the case.
