Can someone help me with this song? The main riff is destroying me, namely the green notes.

I can nail the solo almost perfectly.

I can hit those silly like BLUE/ORANGE chords that turn into scales but the main fucking riff, my main fucking weakness, FAST NOTES kills me!

I don't want to alternate pick, I'm never going to get good at that but is there ANYTHING I can do to 5 star this song?

I'd hate to say this, but alternate picking is definitely gonna help you in this song.

Just strum in this pattern and the main riff becomes very easy. 1=down 2=up

1 12121 12 12 12

If you want, you can downstrum the parts after the greens, but the greens are very easy to just alt strum.

I tend to just alt strum all the way, and focus on tapping in the B Y R notes

Yeah, but being a reformed all down strummer, I can say that since he's not gonna be able to do that, he can down strum that part.

Drew, I don't alt strum unless I have to (which is why I'm not great at really fast parts and CfH in general), but it is much easier to just practice it and get it down for parts like AoS main riff. Just practice it slow and start to get faster until you feel comfortable doing it. It takes awhile, but you'll get it if you just keep at it and don't go back to just downstrumming.

I'm gonna give downstrumming a try but where and how can I practice? Just get AoS over and over and over..?

The Breaking Wheel, Cowboys From Hell, Decontrol in the main riff, etc. Pretty much anything that has continual fast notes at the same pace is a good place to start trying to learn and practice it.

it is really not completley necessary to alternate sturm this song (the only song in the game i alt strum is the breaking wheel) i think keeping a multiplier going is all about the timing in this song. ive never even tried alternate sturmming for this song and ive gotten a 5 star. just practice keeping that multiplier going by playing it over and over again, that is what i did for BatM on hard and i eventually 5 starred it without alternate strumming

...You're a madman. You downstrummed all of BatM?

Yeah, I noticed. You didn't seem too happy with your score that you used in our rivalry...
