Yeah, it falls back to page 2 or 3 pretty easily when there's like a full page of new topics every day at the moment _________________

I wouldn't think it would work, but if anyone tries it and has success, let me know and I'll add it to the list :P _________________

Worth noting that if you're planning on buying a PS3 and GH3 now, Sony has completely pulled out all backwards compatibility from the PS3s, so even if you were to get a PS2-PS3 converter to use your old guitars you would NOT be able to play GH1, 2 or 80s on the system. |

That's a good point... I'll have to update the chart to mention that they won't work on the new PS3s. _________________

10/24 UPDATE: Completely reworked the table so that there's less colors (less confusing) and a small legend for the PS2/PS3 backwards compatibility issues: ^ means you need a PS2->PS3 adapter, and # means it'll only work if you have one of the old PS3's with full backwards compatibility. Should be a bit easier to understand now.. I hope.
TB666 - Nope, unfortunately the battery packs won't work. You could, however, buy rechargable AA's and a battery charger (if you don't have one already) if you think it's worth it. I probably won't, but for people who are worried about forgetting to stock up on batteries and then running out, it might be a good idea. _________________

PS2->USB adapter doesn't work with GH2, doubt it will with GH3. The issue is the 360 saying "f u I don't know what you are." 360 controllers are not standard USB HID gamepad devices. _________________

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to work. I do think it's possible the PS3 and 360 Les Pauls might work for the PC version of GH3, though. _________________

On a related note: What about the mic and drums? Are they system specific or generic USB devices that'll work on all of 'em? Specifically, could I get RB for ps2, get mic and drums and use my GH controllers, and then when I upgrade to a PS3 all I'd need to get would be new guitars? _________________

I can personally vouch that the PS2 adapter does not work for GH3, so I had to go out and buy a PS3 bundle. So no using your old guitars to jam. I guess I'll have to hope that the rock band guitar is compatible with guitar hero 3....or I won't be playing any cooperative mode.
My pile of plastic is mounting... |

Thanks for the update.
Also, thanks to FrankieB for providing me with this link:
http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/830/830759p1.html
Which has some info about the 360's cross-compatibility for the RB and GH3 adapters. The main thing of note is that the 360 Fender will NOT WORK on GH2/GH3. No news yet on whether this is the case for the PS3/PS2 as well, but I'd say it will be the same. _________________

Okay, I've updated the chart on the front page. It sure is getting messy with all these incompatibilities.. what a shame.
Mods, if you deem this topic worth, could we possibly get a sticky? This falls back to page two or three so quickly, and people don't seem to see it and continue to make more topics about X guitar not working with Y game or Z console. _________________

What are the Rock Band "special features"? Solo buttons and effects? Or is there more? _________________

As far as I know, basically just the solo sections. Since there's no "solo frets" on the GH guitars, you can't do the special solo section where you don't have to strum. Not sure if you can still do it with the normal frets (and strumming) or not at all, though. _________________
