We might as well reveal what we discovered. The optimal path is 3-2-1-2-1, which is around 150 points better than the plain old 3-2-2-2.

I always wondered if it was better to use those alone...thanks Chainsaw for grinding out the path

No wonder I kept falling! I've tried the new path, but I'm shy of my high score by over 1K. I think that the problem is that the fourth and fifth activations are off by quite a bit. I activate the fourth at the end of measure 88, and the fifth at measure 107. I'm stumped on where they could be.

Thanks for the thanks, buddy, because it really was a grind. I must have spent 8+ hours laboriously calculating every possible permutation of SP path by hand and fiddling with activation points, timing issues, etc. only to come up with a path that made enough common sense to have been reasoned out in fifteen minutes. Of course, than I wouldn't have had the security of process of elimination behind my results, wouldn't I?
Since the cat is out of the bag, I might as well share the exact activation points I used so anybody with better input can help adjust them..

3 - Only whammy the holds from sp 1 and the latter half of sp 2, activate as close to instantly *after* hitting yellow sp note in measure 19 as possible. Too much whammy will run the activation over next SP section, which is bad. The idea is to get the activation to run out just before sp 4 begins, yet cover as much of sp 3's yellow sustain as possible.

2 - measure 47. Proper early attack whammys on both sps for this activation will allow you to cover the entire line of green notes from start to finish, IIRC.

1 - Tricky. I've been activating at 0.75 beats after the beginning of measure 60 to get the activation to end just before sp 7 begins. I'm not entirely sure but I think this one could be moved a smidge earlier for more tick points given enough early attack whammy. How precisely large a smidge is, I have no idea because I am not a computer program.

2 - start on the very next note in measure 86, squeeze it to end on the green sustain in measure 92.

1 - I start the activation on the red note in measure 104. This one I am not certain to be the optimal activation point, so any input is appreciated, my brain was getting pretty badly fried by this point of the process.

I'm confused.. i'm using that exact path and hitting every squeeze and getting every tick on the 3rd SP and ending up with 82.3xx ; 9 of 10 times.. Am I missing something.?

EDIT: Alright, here's the best path I can come up with that should actually do a lot better RStah44 then last time , gets 82.8k if you hit every squeeze.

3-No Whammy on 1st and 3rd SP, use immediatley after you get SP on yellow long note
2-Next normal green note (squeeze ; last green note, measure 54)
1-Use during last red long note of SP, after 2 and 1/4 measures through it
2-Next green note (squeeze ; red long note, measure 91)
1-Use during 3rd red long note, after 3 and 1/4 measures through (squeeze ; last yellow note, measure 115)

go into quickplay. But you have to play it in other medium, hard, or expert career to unlock it first
