I had a hard time with this song when I first played it in hard as well. Now, it is the only song I haven't 5-stared in the main setlist in my hard career. My high score is 178724. What do I need in order to 5-star and what is a good SP path I could use to help me along?

Check in the song stats section from the main page. It gives all the cutoffs. Or you could go into compare users and then click on 5* cutoff. It will tell you exactly how far behind/ahead you are.

So now TWICE in a row I've been less than 500 points from that damn 5*. I'm going to have to come back to it later. Though its the only one left to get the 5* Hard guitar.

SIIIIIGH.

I'm looking to 5* this and was wondering if anyone had a video displaying the optimal times to use star power?

Did you read any of the other posts?
If you would take a look at the note charts that are posted, that should help you.

Optimal times to use star power also depends on how good you are at certain things, the best place for one use is obviously right before the section of about 20 RY chords in close misirlou style, if you can up and down strum well and nail all those with a 4X multiplier thats a boost of about 10-15k from those notes with an 8X multiplier. I finally 5 starred this today along with Pshycobilly Freakout, im happy now = ).

I've almost five starred every song on hard (3 left) and this one is sorta kicking my butt. Without practice though i got like 183, 600 (around) on my second try, and then found out that if i had hit a few more notes i woulda had my 5*

I was pissed...

ok, im very confused:

after a few days of practice - i managed to get a top score of 197,596 on this song

according to scorehero, 183,781 should be enough for a 5 star, and my score works out to be about 5.2 stars

however when i got my score, my GH2 game still gave me 4 stars!!! im very frustrated, as it was a bit of a one off fluke that i got that much and i really want to try to 5 star all the songs on hard

any suggestions to what could have gone wrong?

EDIT: never mind, i just turned on the ps2 again and i was looking at the wrong bloody score

haha oh man its been a lonngggg day.

another "guitarhero" here stucking on this damned song!
I can hit 90% - 92% of the notes without big problems but this also means that I really miss about one note out of ten *regularly*, killing the multiplier all the time...
Missed the 5star score for 400 points ONE WEEK AGO... and been playing for hours since then without getting close to my high score... tough stuff!!!

Practicing the whole first part in slow-motion must be the only way to keep those multipliers up a tiny little bit longer....

Hi there.

I was pulling my hair out with this song too - i managed to 5 star it yesterday after 6 constant hours of playing!, Just got hanger 18 to 5 star left. Wooo

Anyway, i will try my best to describe how i 'just' scraped through with 186430 - i found it was all down to star power usuage in the end.

The trick i found to do it was to make sure you have full(ish) starpower and a 4x multiplyer at the start of section 71 (see note chart) - the section before is fairly easy so a 4x multiplyer should be no trouble. Use the star power when 71 starts and make sure to keep you multiplyer going until the end of section 75.

Its a very small section, but it boosted my points greatly everytime - enough that i could play the rest of the song terribly and still 5 star it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Studdleys!

I did a 5* run with some more than 188'000 points yesterday, with 92% of correct notes! FINALLY!!

The key was to avoid the mulitplier being reset all the time in the first and second phrase. Practicing this part helped a lot! There are still a lot of missed notes, but some longer streaks without errors did the job....

This was by far the hardest song until now!
3 songs left that are only 4 starred: Psychobilly, Hangar and Freebird...

Cheers!

Cool,

Enjoy psychobilly - thats a pain in the platic guitar! - still hanger 18 left for me, 10,000 away every time. Strange how i can do the 4 or 5 hardest songs in the game, yet get stuck on hanger 18.

Anyway, sorry Mods for posting useless junk in the star power section, please feel free to delete my nonsense (although doing so may invoke a 'rock-off' to the death)

Wow.

After about a week of being stuck on this song (the usual: sailed through Easy, Medium and most of Hard, got stuck on this), I figured out the only way I was ever going to get more than 8% was to simply play the G, R and Y in the first intro, ignoring the Bs and Os.

After a trial run, I found I could do it consistently and get to the easier part, albeit with a "blinking red" meter, and without picking up any SP on the way. Took me about twenty minutes after that, before I finished the song.

As a point of interest, is 8% a familiar percentage? It's what you get for failing right at the end of the first intro. Would be good to see whether anyone else consistently failed there.

This Fun song is Fun. It's gonna be my 5th ever hard FC across all games if there's anybody still out there who's stuck with this song, the best advice i can give is LEARN TO ALT STRUM. it'll work wonders!
