I would suggest using a lot of HOPOs for this song...the more you try to strum each note the harder it becomes. Try using the full crowd-meter code (doesnt save so its not cheating) to practice different HOPO styles without the fear of failing the song.A large portion of the song uses the same technique throughout, so this method should help to at least sustain your combo for a decent length of time.
As far as using SP in certain places...I haven't figured that one out to its fullest yet, simply cause I have yet to 5* the damn song ;_;

I knew from the time I played this on Medium, it would be the last song I would 5 star. I only have 2 songs left to 5 star. CFH and this. CFH, I almost got it with a score of 148000. But this, my best is 130000 and you need 165000.  |

You need ~152,000 on expert for 5*.

Wow. I 5 starred CFH on expert 7 days ago and I still can't 5 star Texas Flood. I hate this song. 
Anyone have any note chart with color coded stuff for when to use star power, ect.? |

Edit: I'm not happy. The one spot thats essential I can't get right. I study the note chart CLOSELY and I'm always too fast or too slow there. 5 notes in 1 beat!? That's just wierd! |

actually, theres six notes there, that might be why youre not hitting it right
EDIT: my bad, i didnt see the one beat part...
