|
|
I posted this as a reply on another thread but figured it merited its own topic so that more people who might be planning to run into their local Wal-Mart to purchase GH3 later this morning can see it and possibly avoid a nasty surprise.
-----
EVERYONE WHO WILL BE SHOPPING AT WAL-MART:
CHECK YOUR BUNDLES' PACKAGING CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU PURCHASE TO ENSURE THE CORRECT GUITAR IS ENCLOSED.
People shopping at Wal-Mart are getting Xplorers in 360 bundles and Red SGs in PS2 bundles. Unconfirmed report someone got a Red SG in a Wii Bundle? (LOL ._.)
The Xplorer inclusions are indicated on the bundle boxes in what appears to be packaging exclusive to Wal-Mart's stock (wtf?); the same appears to be true for the PS2 Bundle, as indicated in a picture provided by LocalH in his post below:
Be sure to check the relevant area of your bundle package carefully before purchasing to make certain you're buying exactly what you expect. Don't let your excitement for the game distract you or you might get home and find your desired Les Paul has been supplanted with an older model guitar.
As noted, so far I've seen no reports of this occurring with bundles purchased from other stores / online services. I bought my GH3 bundle today at Gamestop and checked over their X360 / PS3 bundles and all featured the Les Paul. How Wal-Mart ended up with their own, specially packaged unique bundles, I don't know.
----
The Wii one sounds a little dubious to me; in that case, if the report IS true, I would venture perhaps someone bought two Wii bundles and returned one with the Wii Les Paul replaced with an old SG, knowing a Wal Mart employee would probably have no idea what kind of guitar actually came with the thing, in order to have a second guitar free for Co-op.
Anyone who can provide an example of packaging indicating otherwise would obviously be very helpful but honestly that would be such a fantastic screw-up that I can't imagine it could happen in any scenario other than the one listed above (which would be an isolated incident and give the general Wii user no reason to be concerned). _________________

Thanks LocalH. Added the more close-up picture to the OP.
If anyone out there who's gotten burned by the 360 Xplorer deal can provide a (decently-sized) picture of the packaging, that might be helpful too? And pictures of / more information on the Wii / PS3 bundles if any issues arise regarding those, though I doubt given the past history of GH games on those systems (and the partial / total lack of compatibility with old-model guitars) that screw-ups or replacements would occur in those consoles' bundles. _________________

mr-apples posted a picture in this thread where the box with the Xplorer is visible in the background. _________________

| Aww shit...I hope my Walmart doesn't screw this up also. I know I would've noticed it, but I don't want there to be only crappy 360 Xplorer controllers. |

| When I went to walmart to get my royal assfisting, I saw that the PS3 bundles had black LesPauls. Not sure if wired or not. Are there wired LPs? |

Yeah, this just happened to me and my friend. Walmart was the only store doing a midnight release, and after he bought it we looked at the box, no bueno. they didn't have any wireless controllers, so we're returning it tomorrow. _________________

My Digg account never would let me confirm my registration... and it won't let me register a new account.
Digg it, guys, I'm working on making an account... Maybe comment too with your stories if you've been burned...
EDIT: Got it, Dugg it. Posted a comment with a link back to this thread; it disappeared upon refresh. Takes a bit, maybe? I think I did the special code thing right, so it shouldn't have eaten it... _________________
