Ok, I read this whole thread before asking this question, but first: Dude! This guitar is UN . . . REAL !!!!

Microswitches: Is there anyway to install them without completely replaceing the chip-board in the neck? Oh yeah, I'm refering to a PS2 GHII SG, not a 360 explorer.

I would really like to do the switches, but there is sooooo much going on in your guitar that its hard to tell from the pics what pertains to the switches and what is part of another feature. If anyone has had any luck modding microswitches in a PS2 SG, please help.

If you solder the microswitches to the corresponding contact points on the fret button circuit board, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work.

i have been able to completely remove the fret buttons circuit board.
i have hooked up all the wires to my new microswitch buttons and they all worked prefectly. the picture is of what the new board looks like, i just need to resolder all the wires onto them and then just get it all put together.

Sweet!
How do you plan on getting the LEDs to work?

Nice! When you finish can you post pics of where you soldered wires and everything? Also, are you planning on doing the LEDs in there, or just replacing the buttons?

Dude. You are awesome. I want the computer system thing for the tapping and stuff. I'm planning on replicating that somewhat. No led's but I am almost done with the microswitch buttons for the frets, and I am wanting the tapping system, and maybe some more. Can you post how you got the brains working, because I'm soooooo in it if it is somewhat affordable, and not super hard. I'm newer to electronics, but I'm not really afraid of mods, unless I need to solder REALLY small parts, especially on my guitar. Any tips for soldering small things? Also, How do you deal with the holes in the back of the buttons and keep them working? Just put them on the edge. I am ging to do this if my soldering iron will solder this small. I don't want to take my circuit board off, and not get this working right either.

Sounds good. Are you making custom buttons too, or just using your current buttons (plastic colored ones) I'm doing this too, and maybe a tapping mod to just the solo buttons that I will add, YAY! That is if i can't use his computer tapping system thing. I hope that there is a tut for that soon.

that is the most amazing thing i've seen in like, ever.
i'd imagine that using cold cathodes and LED's of that intensity wouldn't be very practical for actual play, though. considering that beast of a battery of yours only lasts an hour with nimrod, wouldn't a couple of regular LEDs be better for long playing sessions?

when you do mods like this, you hardly talk about practical. Just look at the price.

That would be Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group. I've never played GH1 but I know that's it.

I'm pretty sure a DVD burner is hardware, so that would make it impossible to download, I'm afraid.
