Welcome to the Rivalries forum! In here, feel free to challenge other people to a friendly game of Guitar Hero! There are a wealth of options at your disposal, and this announcement serves to highlight how you may want to set up your rivalry thread.

I: Basic Rules

Rule 1. There is only one rule. Do not flame. However, since this IS a rivalries thread, trash-talk and snide comments are allowed, but only in the name of good fun. If someone is caught ACTUALLY flaming another member, then they will be dealt with quickly. If you see someone being out of line, just PM a moderator, they'll take care of it. Just keep it laid back, and everything will go smoothly.

II: How to set up a rivalry thread

This should serve as the backbone of a good rivalry thread. Feel free to take any information from this, or PM me if you have any suggestions.

Subject: For the title of the thread, make it as informative as possible. If you're looking for people to face, put the system and game as a bare minimum, and add the difficulty you plan on using and/or the rank range of players you are looking to challenge. If you have all the people in the rivalry figured out and/or the rivalry is under way, feel free to change the subject title to include the members that are participating. Perhaps you might even attract some audience members!

Description: In here, re-iterate exactly what you're looking for. Include the system and game(s) you wish to play on, the rank of the people you are looking to play, and any other variables you wish to add. Here are a few things that some people have looked for in rivalries:

- Lefty flip players only
- Down-strumming only
- Performance mode only
- Custom songs only
- Sightreading contest

If you have any other requirements you are looking for, go ahead and put them up!

Note: For every song that is picked (in whatever way you choose to pick it), it is important to have a set date that the song(s) should be in by. This makes it more structured and easy to predict the schedule of the rivalry.

Picture requirements: State whether people need to submit pictures. As a general rule, people are under no obligations to submit pictures, considering that it's unfair to think that everyone has a camera. However, if all parties involved have a working camera and agree to it, then a picture requirement is fine. Just let it be known what the policy is.

Score confirmation: In general, there are two methods that people use to confirm each other's scores.

Method 1: Trust The most commonly used method is trust. Someone will choose a song or songs to b played, the two people will give a set date that the score(s) should be in by, and then they will post it, with or without pictures. After deciding who the winner of that round is, then the other person will choose a song or songs to be played, and so on and so forth.

Method 2: Neutral Party The alternative method is having a 3rd party in the mix. Just like before, someone will choose a song and a date will be set to have the songs in by, but instead of posting directly in the thread, all of the participants will PM their scores to a neutral party, which is someone who has agreed to take on the responsibility of accepting PM's from all participants and posting them in the thread after everyone has entered their scores. Not very common, but a good choice in some cases.

Use good judgment. If you are going somewhere for a while and can't access a computer (or GH), then post in the thread to let everyone know what's up. Likewise, if you don't really want to continue the rivalry, talk to them and let them know, whether in the thread or in a PM.
