I taped up my GH2 controller this weekend to look like Eddie Van Halen's guitar. I looked for sample photos of Eddie's guitar online, and it turns out he's had several "Frankenstrat" guitars with that iconic pattern of a red guitar with white and black stripes. I based on mine on his 5150 version:

I brought Guitar Hero over to a small New Year's Eve gathering at my friend's house, where it was enjoyed by all. And a new power duo was formed, the "Rockin' Brothas Pajama Band":

Hide your daughters, 'cuz these guys are READY TO ROCK!

I initially thought about using paint instead of tape, but decided not to for several reasons:
  • Paint is difficult to apply well, and impossible to remove
  • Tape has a smoother surface, feels better against your arm
  • Paint takes a fair amount of time to "cure", during which time it shouldn't be touched
  • Tape is more durable, resists scratches

Holy hell...

Awesome job on that. I tried the same paint job, but used paint...and it turned out like crap.

Kickass. I must say though, a buddy of mine made his own "real" custom guitar that looks like the real deal as well.

That's pretty cool. I actually saw a guitar skin like that yesterday at the mall.

I would assume he used the cherry-red Gibson(?) from GHII since he said he didn't like paint.

Sorry to bump an old topic, but I was in a Toys R Us store and saw this:

http://www.amazon.com/Gamer-Graffix-GUITAR-HERO-HELLION/dp/B000MWTAAC/ref=sr_1_16/002-5185757-0768065?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1174480355&sr=8-16

Dude they totally ripped your design which was ripped from a famous guitar. Anyways it's not individual tape or a guitar, it's just one big adhesive that sticks onto your guitar controller.
