1957 Les Paul Jr. TV Yellow

So, here's the inspiration:

And here's mine new toy:

Been working on this sucker for too many weeks now, heh. It's nice to finally have it back in one piece again.

As you can see, the pickguard had to be "re-imagined" since the stock LPJR shape just doesn't jive with the strum bar. I made it from a blank sheet of acoustic pickguard material.

The rest is just paint, following all the great advice in the stickied thread. I never really got the faceplate to shine the way I wanted, but you can see that it does have a decent reflective ability.

Anyway, overall I'm pretty happy with the result. Especially being that this is the first mod I've attempted.

Wow. I honestly came in here expecting a quick hack-up paintjob...but this is really awesome.

It looks like a stock LP.

BTW, this is what I'm thinking of doing next:

Probably will just do it as a body-only job, though. The strat doesn't come with raised bars or dots on the neck, so that kind of detail there is much tougher. But I have the perfect color to match that "vintage white" body.

I wonder if I could use wumpus's glitter technique on the pickguard...
