|
|
After the triumph of myself & sscotth taking the 360 LP tilt sensor down, I finally turned my attention back to the X-Plorer.
First of all you need to open up your xplorer. Check BriGuy's modding 101 sticky.
Here is a pic of the xplorer logic board (v 1.0). The area we will be working on is circled.
Data Sheet here: http://www.freescale.com/files/sensors/doc/data_sheet/MMA7260QT.pdf
At the tilt sensor (marked U5 on the logic board) there are 4 places for jumpers, R28, R29, R30 and R31. From these you can change how sensitive the tilt is.
(Red dots) R30 & R31 in place - 1.5g - original setting
(Blue dots) R28 and R30 in place - 2g
(Green dots) R29 and R31 in place - 4g
(Yellow dots) R28 and R29 in place - 6g - extremely hard to activate
And to disable it all together, remove the R21 resistor in the blue high lighted aread.
I just got done testing this with my personal xplorer.

LOL! I'm sure I'll be ripping the GH4 guitar apart as soon I bring it home launch day. |

You are the man! Although I hate the XPlorer with a burning passion, this kind of thing is super useful for this model as the back button is impossible to hit without a clumsy mod. I might also eventually find some cheap ones off of ebay to play around with now. Thanks. _________________

jcstahl comes through again! That's awesome. By the way, where did you come up with that datasheet? That's a really useful resource. |

I am very interested in either making it very hard to activate star power via tilt or take it out altogether, but i don't want to remove anything. One problem, I have a different circuit board than you do.
Can you tell me what to do to make it very hard to activate star power or make it not work altogether?
Here's a couple pictures of my circuit board. I couldn't decide which had better lighting so here are the two best:
PIC 1 PIC 2
In the end, i want an on\off switch between modified sensitivity and normal sensitivity. _________________

in your pictures you can see a resistor marked R21. All you have to do is remove that resistor and the solder the ends of your switch wiring to the contacts points where the resistor was. It's only an 18 ohm resistor (if that does say 180 on it) so just using the switch should be no problem. This will turn star power on and off. |

I don't like the idea of removing something from the circuit board, the resistor is really small.
What would i need to do to make it very hard to activate star power? _________________

I have this circuit board as well. My starpower chip is broken and I removed the R21 resistor. It still manages to activate! _________________

Any word on how to pull this off with the alternate circuit board? _________________

anybody out there with a version 1.3 xplorer willing to send it to me for testing? i will do the mod for free (either disable or sensor adjustment *if possible*), and pay the return shipping. |
