|
|
Ever spent hours painstakingly recreating a solo in freticons in order to illustrate your method of playing a section? Making a guide and need the chart for a Guitar Hero 3 song?
Well, painstakingly recreate no more!
Look no further than...
The Complete GH3 Freticon Pack
for all your pre-created freticon needs.
In this RAR archive, you will find text documents for every on-disc song in GH3 (I could do DLC too, but I don't have the charts for it). These documents contain pastable freticon code compatible with these forums. There is a break every 4 measures to keep the line lengths from getting too ridiculous.
There are some issues with spacing between notes (sometimes) but in general I feel that the charts look fairly close to what a human would create.
If you have any feedback about how this could be formatted better, please let me know and I will take it into consideration.
Upcoming Plans:
- Guitar Hero: Aerosmith charts
- Practice section titles so that the charts are more easily navigable.
- Charts from other games.
Please don't post any freticons at all in this thread, unless they are bug reports and just small sections. I've only posted the TTFAF chart on this page as a demonstration. Large numbers of freticons take a long time to load, clutter up the page, and might get this thread locked.
Thanks!
Feel free to link to this thread from elsewhere, though I do ask that you send me a PM with a link to where you've linked from so that I can have a look. :-)

Wow this has got to be the most useful thing ever. So we just download it and we have access to every set of freticons? This is a huge contribution and very helpful, thanks. _________________

Holy shit. You must really have a lot of time on your hands. Anyway, it's a pretty cool idea for the lazier people or for people who need instant freticons. _________________

I'd guess that its automated, ie. he's written a program to scan the charts and convert them to .txt files. But that's doesn't change the fact that its a totally awesome contribution, and also writing this program could have been quite time consuming (I'm not really sure I've never done any programming of this sort). _________________

Try to change the file extension from .rar to .zip, or just download winRAR.
Nice job, this will spare guide makers a lot of time _________________

Yep, download WinRar, and use the trial forever. They bother you with this error every time you open in up after 40 days, but not much else.
"Please note that WinRar is not free software. After a 40 day trial period you must either buy a license or remove it from your computer."
Yeah right? I've bought WinRar on 3 seperate computers, no way I'm buying it again.
@OP, Definitely sticky worthy. Did you make a program to do this? Or do you just have way too much time on your hands? _________________

This might be the most significant contribution to guide-writing since the invention of freticons themselves; thank you very much for taking the time to do it. Looks like the Guide to Writing Guides needs some serious updating...

It has to be automated; he says he doesn't have the charts for DLC songs. These charts are available on Bradleyzoo, which would suffice if he was doing it himself, but not if it was automated, which would require the actual files from the disc. Also, if you check out some of the files, there's always a few measures of blank space at the beginning of each one, which I doubt he would have bothered to include if he'd charted each one himself. _________________

Yep, I did this with a program.
I was writing a starpower optimizer for the GH3 engine and realized that freticon charts would not be too difficult to print out with the information I had already gathered from the chart files.
I'm so glad that so of you anticipate finding this useful! I'll be uploading the Aerosmith equivalents this afternoon.
Question: Would it be useful for me to include measure numbers in the files? Right now it's implicit - each line is 4 measures, so if you want a particular measure you can just count by 4 from the beginning. _________________

Measure numbers or section names would be great _________________
