I wrote out this massive post to explain to Peekay how I hit Solo K, so I thought I may as well turn it into a guide so everyone can benefit.

First off, I would like to say that if you don't intend to put some serious effort and time into this you WILL NOT be able to hit Solo K on full speed.
It is H-A-R-D. One of the hardest sections in the game.
Here's my timescale when I was learning it:
10 minutes in: Hit it on Slowest
20 minutes in: Hit it on Slower
45 minutes in: Hit it on Slow first time
3 hours in: Hitting it on slow reasonably consistantly. Full speed is O_o
Next Day
3 hours of practice later: Slow is easy easy easy, hit it most of the time. Hit it on full speed twice. But still O_o
Next Day
3 more hours of practice: I figured out to hold down the yellow button in the second half, hit it lots of times.

That's right, it took me 2 days , 3 hours a day before I hit it ONCE on full speed. And another good 3 hours practice before I got good at it.

My method only uses 4 fingers, so it's great if you're not so good with the other 2.
Also less fingers means less getting in each others way.

Video of Fingers on Slowest

Basically, think of the whole thing in pairs of notes.
After the scales at the start, you get a pattern:
, , ,
These are hit with 12, 21, 11 and 11 respectively.
(red means tapping hand)

This repeats twice, the second time has RY twice, but that's still the same fingering, just tap the Y again.

Then you have the part which joins the two sections together:
, , part.
I use my index finger on my fretting hand for reds and greens here, but you can use 1 and 2 if you like. Tapping yellow with strumming hand index.

Then the second pattern which is:
, , ,

Played as 11, 11, 12 and 21.

Now a couple of tips:
1) For each pair of notes, hit them both at the same time and hold down whatever note is on your fretting hand, but tap fast whichever note is being tapped. The exception being on the RG/GR pairs, which are played as 11 anyway, so there's no chance of lifting off the lower one too early.

2) On the second section, HOLD DOWN THE YELLOW OF THE part at the end.
This part gave me the most trouble, what you have to do, is press the Y and B together, hold the yellow, tap the blue fast, then tap OB in one quick motion whilst still holding the yellow. THEN you slide down for RG.
I found that unless I do this I slide down too early and miss the Red note.

3) Full Speed WILL feel REALLY FAST. After about 2-3 hours practice I could hit it on slow pretty consistantly, but full speed was just completely out of my league. It took a few more days of practicing for an hour a time before I got it reasonably consistant. But really, this is only until I figured out point number 2 above. Once I figured to hold that yellow it's easy.

4) READ POINT NUMBER 2, IT'S BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT PART.
I'm not kidding, if I forget to hold the yellow down I miss 90% of the time, if I remember, it's more like 10%.

See the videos in my sig for a hands vid of it.

If there's anything you think this guide is missing, please tell me and I'll sort it out.
Any questions I'm happy to try and answer them also.
Hope this helps.

This looks like a very nice guide here, although, since this is just a one section guide, I would give freticons and fingerings for EVERY part of it. It may be annoying but once you do that and fully improve your grammar then this guide will look more professional and will be more helpful. I may even just try this out for the hell of it and see what happens.

Oh and here is the Complete Freticons for all GH3 Songs.

Just adding something in there, but if you're missing on the parts, try hitting and at the same time. That helped me and I now get it 2/3 of the time :S

Nice guide. I tried doing this earlier and I could barely even do it on slowest.

Yeah you have to kinda push through at the beginning.
For a good 15 minutes I barely hit anything. After a while you just kinda get used to the patterns and can suddenly hit it.

It could take longer though, not being big-headed but I consider myself pretty good at GH, so the time it takes could vary depending on how good you are at tapping.

Wow. I havn't gotten up to that in DWDTG so i thought i would see what the fuss was about, and i hit about 6 notes. That section is crazy. I'll be using your guide when i get better, but nice work on that solo, it's a doozy :S.

It took me like 10 goes to hit it on slowest, it was way too slow. <_<

This method is great :o I tried the 8 finger tapping before, but I barely could hit it on slow. Then later I tried your method. It took me over 20 minutes to hit it on slowest. Then I tried once on slower and got the FC. It took me like 10 minutes to hit this on slow and soon I become pretty consistent at it. Then I randomly FC'd this on full speed about 30 minutes later first time ever. Thanks ;D

This is the only section in guitar hero history that hurts my hands to play, now that I have a method, I think I'll go ahead and practice my balls off. Thanks for the guide, this is one of the coolest parts to hit in GH3.

Thank you!

After 40 minutes, I hit K twice on slow and I am consistent with this on slower. However, instead of doing the YR & RR pair with [1-2] & [2-1] I do them with [1-1] & [1-1]

This is almost 11 years old, but I just started practicing it and wow this method is fantastic. Very similarly, I hit it on slowest and then slowest within around 15 minutes, and randomly tried full speed 5 mins later and only missed the last 7 notes!!

Thank you so much lol
