Basically I'm buying this game for Eruption. I played 2 charts today with Always Slide on and I'm stoked for all that tapping in one song. :P

Yes, Eruption. Its probably the most played custom on SH. If that song isn't in, then they would be disappointing a lot of people.

Yeah I am excited about playing Eruption but not just that, definently the other great Van Halen songs too like Unchained, Runnin With the Devil, Jamies Cryin, Dance the Night Away, Jump, and many many others. I am already pumped for this game.

That would be a main GH staple. It's still one of the most charted and played songs on SH and in Frets on Fire. But there are plenty of other VH tracks I'd be looking forward to. Songs like Panama, On Fire and Runnin' With The Devil would be sweet to do voxtar on, assuming that the game will be full band like the last 2 GH releases.

Priorities:

Bits of RB DLC = Steely Dan Pack + Panic Switch for GH:WT > GH Smash Hits > GH:VH > Rebuying GH:A for PS3 > Rebuying GHIII for PS3 = GH:M

...What? I want GH:M, I just...want every other game more.

I'm pretty excited for this game as it definitely has the potential to be pretty good / difficult. I'm curious as to when they are going to officially announce this because July 28 (if that's the actual date) is going to come pretty soon and I doubt they want to take away from the Smash Hits hype. Perhaps they'll announce / show it off at E3 but that is pretty close from announcing it to releasing it.

I just hope they include Van Hagar as well rather than just David Lee Roth stuff, there are some great tracks there that hopefully get added.

Word. A Van Halen career-spanning project without Sammy Hagar wouldn't be right. While I like the David Lee Roth era better, I've always assumed it was just another case of a band's "earlier" stuff being better. In either case, Sammy Hagar is still a great rock singer.

Certainly Eruption and the possibility of an extended Eddie Van Halen jam or battle is very exciting. While I think Van Halen is better suited for Guitar Hero (slide notes and whatnot), a nice custom Rock Band Frankenstrat would have been nice. I'll definitely expect to see a nice faceplate for the GHWT guitar.

Bottom line: Aerosmith was great, Metallica was good, this'll be fun too. While I question the marketability of Van Halen they're obviously a great band that makes sense for "Guitar" Hero more than Aerosmith and Metallica (kind of like how The Beatles make sense for a game called Rock Band).

I don't think they could make the game without him. It would be a huge chunk of their career that they ignore and not to mention the songs.

I'm hpoing that, if Sammy Hagar IS in the game, then we might see a song by Chickenfoot, considering he's the lead singer. And Chickenfoot = Satriani, which = insta-buy.

Aerosmith had a Steve Tyler and a D.M.C./Joe Perry Duet.
Metallica had...Uh...Mo-Capped Braids?
Van Halen might have both Hagar and Roth in at different points of the game. Bonus points for Cherone Mo-Cap if they have any songs from Van Halen III.

Anyway, wasn't it rumoured a while ago that the following songs would make it in the game?

"Painkiller" - Judas Priest
"Master Exploder" - Tenacious D
"Dope Noise" - Weezer

I'm unsure about the Weezer song, but I know for sure that it was on the Rolling Stone website where they reported those 3 songs.

I question why Tenacious D would get a song in a VH game...other than TD is a tenacious classic rock n' roll fan band. Though Master Exploder is kickballs, I love it.
