I hate bumping my own thread, but I did get 3 GH1 FCs when I popped it in today. So all in all, a pretty good day.

Actually, it's about time this thread got bumped. Grat's on the FCs!
(How many songs are in GH1 again?)
3 FCs in one day, you could probably get FGFC if you worked really hard. |

BTW, maybe you should change the Closer FC banner in your sig. I think you might have gotten better FCs than that....

I know, that's the point.
I'm not too big on the whole "brag about FCs you've gotten in your banner" concept, so I'm sort of mocking the whole practice.
Anyway, three more GH1 FCs today, Hey You, Even Rats, and Behind The Mask (which is considerably harder than its placement of #4 on the wiki list, I'm sorry.)
And thanks for the congrats! I would love a GH1 rival. I already have one (blackhawk12) lined up, but I could use all the motivation I can get.

I hit the oranges THREE TIMES before I got the FC though. Don't ask.

Nice job on the FC! You should go for Cheat on the Church as your 20th song. It'd be nice to get early, and it's the best song in the game, IMO.
As far as realistic short-term goals go, maybe you should consider going for Iron Man. The difficulty of that song is pretty overrated. The solo isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to me. Do what you did for More than a Feeling: don't strum every note. My friend Kodey who can FC it maybe 80% of the time just strums every three notes or so for the solo. |

Jesus, you're crazy. You always propose impossible FCs for me to do. You should go for them.
By the way, I would never go for Cheat On The Church. I abhor that song. It's my third least favorite in the game, after Farewell Myth and Thunder Kiss '65 (and it's still pretty close).

Well, more than anything, the fact that the guy who sightread FCed You Got Another Thing Comin' struggled with Heart Full Of Black gave me, well, encouragement.
Actually, strumming softly did help at first (in fact, that was something I noticed very early on), but unfortunately it just wasn't consistent enough. I never actually tried turning the sound down because I like the song too much to do that.
There were two things that helped BIG TIME:
1) GETTING A TV WITHOUT LAG. OMG. The first time I played on a non-high def TV, I only broke combo twice.
2) Yesterday, when I got to play GH for the first time in FOREVER, I tried holding the bottom part of the strum bar with all of my fingers ('cept the thumb, of course). I've never strummed that way before, but I'm shocked at how steady I can keep my strumming doing it this way. After all, my FC run was the 4th time I hit the oranges (God, I suck), so it was hardly a fluke run. I've even tried it in other fast strumming parts and have had great success. I always thought I just sucked at fast strumming in general, but I think some of it was just that my fingers were too unsteady when I just used my middle and index.

You remembered I did that?! Sweet, I feel important But yea, I can't imagine playing any GH game (especially GH1) on an HDTV. Lag settings have never worked for me so I've always just used my CRT Panasonic and (obviously) it works perfectly. As for that new strumming method, I'll have to try that out. Currently, I don't have any access to GH/RB but when I come home I'll test it out. As for my suggestion of turning the volume down, that was pretty much like a "fuck it why not" method cause at the time I was getting so frustrated I was willing to try anything so I don't blame you for not using that tip
