That one should work, it's clearly not the old AMD problem.
You see a blue link on the error message dialog. Click it and post the window that appears. It should list the module which caused the crash. |

I'm out of ideas except for a few things. Feel free to try or not try any of them. Try them without my dll, first you need to get the game running.
In random order as they cross my mind:
1. If you're using a nocd exe then try it with the original and vice versa. Maybe a copy protection problem.
2. Try changing your regional settings to english. Greek windows may cause trouble if a program doesn't expect it.
3. If you can, try a fresh windows installation on a separate hdd or partiton. If you happen to posess an english version, all the better. If you can't partition the PC use VirtualBox which supports D3D. More info on their website.
4. Disable running antivirus, firewall and generally all background programs.
5. Make sure you don't have any refresh rate overriders activated, incuding the one in CCC.
6. Create a new (admin) user account on you PC, login and try from there.
7. Use msconfig to "clean boot" the PC and try again. Use google to find out details.
8. Update your chipset, sound card and network card drivers.
9. Set your desktop to 1024x768@60Hz before launching the game.
10. If you can, try windows vista or windows 7.
11. Reset your motherboard bios settings.
12. Download and install the latest OpenAL drivers.
13. Download and install the latest DirectX. |

if i face though any problem i guess the solution will be your dll.

You've got to be kidding me! I just found this thread.I just bought a XFX HD 4890 on sale at Best Buy,tried for a couple of days and took it back cause performance in GHWT and GH3 sucked! Was worse than my 8500GT.Anyway, I exchanged it for a NVIDIA GTS 250.Performance is now great but the 4890 is supposed to be way better. So with this fix should I get the 4890 back? What do you think. |

Yes, maybe it's worth a try. The 4890 is a great card. |

As I stated in the description, Windows XP is not effected. At least it didn't use to be, I didn't try the latest XP drivers though. |

eydee, you a the best! Thanks a lot for solving this problem. I noticed that game loads a bit longer and Windows 7 says that GH3.EXE "does not respond" during the load, but I think it is OKay. "Guitar Hero 3" now runs very smooth (as in WinXP SP3).
ATI Catalyst 9.12 still does not fix the VSync problem.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad to see that this is useful for some people.
Btw, currently I'm using Catalyst 10.2 RC, and this little fix is still required for me.
I'd like to see some replies from people with HD 5k series cards. Do you guys have this issue? Does this software solve it? |

Good lord thank you for this. ATI, Aspyr, and whoever else is responsible for this (and for not fixing it) should be fired. To pay this much for software that doesn't properly work (in fact, in was nearly unplayable) is a joke. Even on the old drivers that didn't have the constant framerate problem, there was still somthing causing choppy slowdowns on GH:WT due to lighting effects or something at random times on all venues except the Tool venue.
Eydee, you're a saint. At the VERY LEAST the people who are paid to do this stuff (*cough* ATI and Aspyr *cough*) should have released this little work-around. The games are finally playable like they're supposed to be.

I can confirm this fix does work for older cards as well. I could not for the love of god find out why my GH3 and WT were stuttering as hell, no matter what resolution or boosts I tried. Even though I had no problems with it in the past on WinXP.
After this fix I run both GH3 and WT flawlessly on a HD2900XT at 1900x1200, standard settings.
Other specs are; Core 2 Q6600 @ 3.6 Ghz, 8GB PC6400 DDR2, 2x Intel X25-M 80GB G2 |

Doesn't work for me, I have a HD 5870. I tried it with a fresh install with patch 1.3 and a fresh install of GHTCP I also tried it with a fresh install with patch 1.31 and a fresh install of GHTCP. It crashes on the first loading screen. |
