Yeah, from what I understand, you could only make hacks. Which is still fun I guess.

Cheers,

i believe that the compression is still in zlib. seeing as my zlib manager(which still won't decompress my files) sees them as zlib.

I am at loss here, I can provide the x360 metallica files if you wish.

I've had a quick look at the new xbox files. It appears that they are split in to chunks. Each chunk points to the next, If I remove the header and null padding from one chunk, it decompresses as normal. The chunk I decompressed saved to exactly half a meg (1024 * 1024 / 2 bytes).

I guess it's just a case of deompressing all the parts and putting them in the correct order to create a full files (the pab)

I have only spent 10 mins looking at this. I don't know when I'll get more time. I'll keep you posted. If anyone else feels like taking this further then feel free. It looks quite straight forward. Although recompression might be another challenge.

Cheers,
Nanook

Just a mini update to say I have the files loading now. Just the saving to be done.

Do you have ways of testing without wasting discs? If so I would like you to PM me I'll give you a test version when it's ready.

Cheers,
Nanook

Is there a running list anywhere of the stuff that we have verified as a working mod to the main qb file for GH3-Wii? I have got a pretty decent list here and I am interested to see what else has bee found.

Here's some of the stuff I have that I haven't seen posted yet...
Editing lot's of the game's text
Equalizing the bosses (so lou isn't so damn hard)
moving the elements around the screen (career, co-op, quickplay, song title, artist, etc)
Changing the points given per note and the cash given when the song is over

some stuff I still don't quite get are the debug menu it talks about and the tier editing. Has anybody managed to run the debug menu? An I know it is possible to use theGhostisotool to edit the tiers and the number of songs on them, but that never has any effect for me. The game still have 8 tiers with 5 and 6 songs in each. What is the skinny on doing it the old fashoned way?

Editing

qb.pab.xen
qb.pak.xen

from Xbox 360 Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, qb.pab.xen blows up a few hundred bytes. Even if you don't edit, just update the same value and save--it blows up a few hundred bytes and you cannot reinsert it. Anyone know why this is happening?

Would like to know this as well, but I know that points are "hard-coded". I'd really like to know loading screens, "Star Power Ready", etc. Maybe, is there a way to edit each rocker's profile? Main menu options, et cetera?

Double post:

Code:
Error Adding '90AA9A08' to headers: An Item with that key has already been added.

EDIT: Could it be because I am using a WBFS dump?

Had anyone changed GH3 characters for GHA chars? Does it works? If so, how can I do it? I don't have any clue, but I'm gonna try to change the HEX values of the outfits to see if it works...

Eh, got it to load. Still looking for the main menu and difficulty options (I've gotten them to change after-game), and autoplay (but it's not like you're legally allowed to help me with that).

I tried it back in the day with a much older version of QueenBee, but didn't have enough functionality. It should be possible though.

But what files do I need to change? I'm going to try to change on GH3, not GHA, I hope it works...

in THAW the mainmenu isn't inside the qb.pak/pab it's actually located inside z_mainmenu.pak

might i suggest navigating the entire GH directory looking for any .pak files
take a look inside them you might be surprised what you'll find.
