I was an admin for a counterstrike league called "CAL" and I feel something like this could be ran very simmiler. I was thinking about setting somthing up like this but seems you did it before me.
It could be like an 8 week season, with a best of 3 match per week. You get schedualed against an opponent based on wins/losses and you add them to friends for the week.
We could create a default day (like tuesday) and most matches will be played at that time, but if people cannot the 2 people playing can arrange another date.
The winner of the match PMs the league admin with who won, so like
person 2-1 person
and the admins tally up the records, and create standings each week.
After the 8 week season, you have a playoff bracket, double elimination, where you can make the matches best of 5. only choose the top guys from the standings..
there more but I have to go to class... i would totally be down for helping out with somthing like this though. _________________

Say I am in a division with Iamchris, wulfe, and kov. I quite obviously go winless in my season and have sole possession of last place in my division. The other division in the conference consists of Joel Zumaya, the green teletubby, homestar runner, and a pointy stick, with the pointy stick pulling out the 1st place season victory. While the battle between me and whoever got first in my conference would be easily decided, the battle between me and the pointy stick should hopefully be closer, with me possibly pulling out the win.

I hope you don't mind if I sig this line.
As for the league/tourney idea, I love it! _________________

This idea of course depends on GuitarHero.com, but if they ever get that running smoothly and it gives information on Pro-Face-Off battles on the site wouldn't it be possible to build something that would automatically pull the scores off of RSS and was able then to put that into a database. This would keep the cheating at a minimum as you would be able to get the info straight from the servers. _________________

Something that should be brought up because it is a legitamite issue that does affect people is NAT.
A LOT of people have connectivity issues, that limit severly who they can connect to.
For instance, my NAT is Strict. I've done everything that XBL Customer Support has told me to do, including buying a new router, but my ISP is to blame, and they've already said there's nothing they can do. So I can ONLY join people who's NAT is Open, and vice versa.
So lets say you have a match against someone who's NAT is Strict or Moderate, and YOUR NAT is Strict or Moderate...no matter how much you try you won't be able to join them.
This issue has been the downfall of various online leagues I've done across several games, and an alternate solution needs to be thought of before a league is started. |

Love this idea
sounds like lots of fun
and it would be sweet to see which region is most successful
NE, NW, SW, SE, Central?
if there are 5 divivisions we can break up the bigger divisions into 2
what about wildcards?
just some random cool ideas
this is all battle mode right?
or pro-faceoff?
there should be a league for both, however battle would be the more fun one |

I think matchups would be cool anyway even if not done on xbox live. Kinda like fantasy sports leagues let you choose between head-to-head and overall type leagues. Definitely something I'd be interested in. |

I do like this idea. It would be interesting to see how things play out, with upsets and underdogs and such, rather than "Who can execute the best path?" (Although I still fully support the other leagues) _________________

Oh wow. That's genius. I've tried doing stuff like that before. Never works for me. _________________

You guys havent considered the possibility of one player getting some sort of glitch that messes them up, causing them to lose, then they tell their opponent and the opponent is only thinking "What a sore loser. Why would you lie?"...Then we have a big fiasco. I seriously think this is a great idea, but online play isnt ready for it, glitch wise, of course. _________________

I would enjoy something like this if battles were left out and if it was pro-faceoffs only. I *HATE* (note the capital letters) battle mode. _________________

I fully support anything that will take advantage of the online head to head capabilities.
I had suggested some type of ladder format before GH3's release, but unfortunately the online system didn't provide enough 'tools' to really make it successful and easy to manage at the same time.
The main problem was how do you prove the score - Whos to say that player A won't submit the same score as player B. If we force pics of the final score, we will be limiting our field of participants, and it will not fall in line with the essence of Scorehero. And if there is a score dispute, there is no way to review without picture proof. |
