With a combination of good relative and absolute pitch, totally. If they can identify the root note and the intervals in the chord then they could easily tell you the notes in it. |
Actually, it can be automatic as well. In fact, if someone played 5 completely random notes on a piano, I could name them all instantly, in order. |

A friend of mine (mac246 on SH) has perfect pitch.
I'm far from it.
He says it makes it hard to listen to the radio though, and most people wish they had perfect pitch, and yet, though who do, wish they didn't.
It's both a gift and a curse, I guess. _________________
