It might be against some sort of unwritten site rules to have a "High Thread" but I feel like that would be more appropriate here.
But yeah, definitely it's all the genetics. You know scientists still haven't fully sequenced the motorboat genome. _________________

It's because ducks have been genetically modified that way. Evil scientists from the year 2015 perfected the ultimate water-based bird to carry out their plans for world domination. Unfortunately, they were found out, and were forced to send all the test subjects back in time to November 11, 2011, but made a gross miscalculation and the ducks were sent much, MUCH farther back, all the way back to the Jurassic Period*, and so they used their superior swimming skills to survive. Ducks, unfortunately, lost their ability to shoot lasers and fire out of their bills as they evolved, but retained their trademark swimming speed.
And that's how we have ducks of today. Had the ducks actually made it to 2011, Score Hero would have succeeded in their plot.
*Not actually sure when ducks first roamed the Earth lol _________________

Significant progress was made towards the sequencing of the motorboat genome.
Unfortunately, overwhelming dissent from feminist groups intimitdated the scientists into remission, and all data was lost.
Future inquirers are attempted to conduct their own investigations on more personal grounds. _________________

Only last year it was realised that speedboats are actually a separate species (K. velox) within the (newly-redefined) motorboat genus Kinenautas. Work would have to have been stopped anyway; it's just too much of a mess, unfortunately. They'll all have to be redefined again if it turns out ducks are closely related (an outcome I consider inevitable). _________________

Don't flit from one thing to another, because that just smacks of a large lack of determination and drive. And people don't like you for that, and won't remember you for it. I mean, I get that you have a plucky spirit and a willingness to try new things, but there's a limit, man. | I might knock it down to just Thursday and Friday. |

Ducks and speedboats have a common ancestor as recent as 65 million years ago. Ever heard of adaptive radiation? That applies here. This common ancestor, a flying dinosaur of some sort, found itself around an island chain in the Pacific (either due to a malfunction in its geomagnetic locating system, or possibly due to something as trivial as heavy winds). Over time, as this species began to reproduce on these islands, it spread to the surrounding islands. Due to slight differences in the landscapes of these islands, different species evolved on each island. And - you guessed it - one of the species that evolved was the duck, and the other was the speedboat.

I take it you haven't seen the recent evidence, then? It's all but official at this point. The Speedboat Genome Project was just recently completed, and their respective genomes are too similar to prove the contrary. _________________
