i played diablo for almost 5 years and I have to say this is diablo meets Halo/JK from what I have seen... you can play it 3rd and first person and third person if you are wielding swords n such it acts on the mechanics as you were playing the jedi knight series... Im really excited about this game because everyone on the flagship studios crew were the ones that invented diablo starcraft and warcraft... they left blizzard when they knew it was about to derail to the bullshit.
if you havent seen it google the unoffical site it tells what is up with it plus has some vids and screens... i think you can watch the pre e3 trailer searching youtube... this one is the sell!
PS... the attributes actually work on the targeting of your mouse.,.... ie... if you are in HS range if you dont have the dex to head shot you miss. so it has a well balance to the FPS genre IMO. |

I am getting this shipped in today.
Is anyone else going to play this? Better yet, is anyone planning on paying the $10 per month subscription? _________________

I played the beta last week.
Buggy. Piece. Of shit.
I mean, it was really fun when it was actually working... but that wasn't often. Maybe it works fine in XP, but it's nigh unplayable with Vista. Which is a serious fuckup, since it even has a DirectX 10 mode. Plus, an update it made me install fucked up all my other games, too, causing me to uninstall Hellgate and the update if I wanted to play anything.
I'll wait for them to figure out how to code games again, thanks. |

Anyone have the game on XP that can confirm anything? I don't want to buy before its fairly stable, but I'm so pumped to try it. _________________

I have been playing it in XP and have had no crashes. A friend of mine has had a few, but once he restarted after the install, I don't think he has had one since.
I thing the game is pretty decent. Just think Diablo with a Tomb Raider kind of view. _________________

So, I borrowed my dad's retail copy and installed it to see if it did any better. It still wanted me to download the update that broke everything, so I tried running it under compatibility mode for XP... tada! Worked like a charm. Until about ten minutes in all the textures broke. Then about five minutes later right after I had finished the second dungeon it said Fatal Error: Out of Memory and crashed.
So, I guess that update did something after all. But being able to play Hellgate at the price of crippling my computer isn't worth it in my opinion, so I shall continue to wait.
But it's fun and looks great, so, as long as you don't have Vista, you should buy this game if you like hack'n'slashes/shoot'n'blasts. |

FYI, I have a Guardian named Bleemus if you want to group. I'm in act 3, around level 20.
Send me a whisper sometime. _________________

So, ah, it was an nVidia-Vista error. But for some reason having Hellgate installed caused it. However, nVidia released new drivers on tuesday and it's fixed now.
Resource management in DX10 is shit so I have to play in DX9, but this game is good and you should get it. |

The game's ok. I'm only a level 5 (haven't played much, Halo 3 occupies most of my time) Marksman but so far I'm having a decent time. Kind of fun, kind of dull. Hope it gets better though. _________________
