XBOX360 Optical -> X-Fi bay in PC -> Output to Logitech 2.1 speakers*
XBOX360 Component -> Dell 2407WFP 24" Widescreen

I have to use 35ms lag calibration, which works only offline (for some reason) but the audio is still lagged (I can hit the notes fine, though).

So the audio isn't going through/to the monitor, and there's no way to get the Xbox audio to feed directly into my logitech speakers (need the usual stereo jack).

*Option A) Do a pass-thru to my 5.1 sony surround headphones from the Xbox->X-Fi (bypassed) -> 5.1 receiver (which will be decoding)
Option B) Plug the 360 optical directly into the 5.1 reciever (something I don't like doing because I don't like playing with the optical cables constantly).

Are you using 720p or 1080i on the Dell Monitor?

1080i (via Xbox options). I know it must be working cause games and movies look so much better (the ones that support the resolution).

See I have used that display for my Xbox 360 (as a temporary solution to my home cinema needs - http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=372831&highlight=#372831)

I always used 720p in game and matched in the menu's for the monitor. I also plugged my xbox directly in to the sound system and din't experience lag.

Try dropping to 720p just to check - you never know

Not really, the monitor is just not the optimum way of playing a HDTV feed in this situation. Plus I have heard this display does not handle 1080i to well. BEst trying 720p and see if that makes a difference

Many people play on HDTV's and are fine (even me who has a very complex set up).
