What do most people here prefer? To have your fingers in G/R/Y/B position, or R/Y/B/O position. Any other way will sure be appreciated and open for discussion.

I, personally, anchor on G/R/Y/B. I always get screwed up trying to reach my index to Green.

I don't favor one over the other, I simply shift up or down as the song requires.

Works for me. I got used to sliding my index. The only problems this causes me is with blue-orange heavy stuff, since I don't exactly like tapping. I usually figure it out though, or grind it out until I can do it one-handed anyway, one of the two

My fingers are where they need to be, my hand is fast so its not hard to simply move your fingers up a couple centimeters.

If you are playing a pattern like this:

4 3 2 1 1 4 3 2 1 1 4 3 2 1 1

But this:

1 2 3 4 4 1 2 3 4 4 1 2 3 4 4

This for me.

I tend to rest on RYBO most of the time, but I mostly spider-hand various patterns if I desire to. I'll also use any finger position (sometimes I end up with 12 on BO for trills, if 23 are too slow).

Also, how can you guys pinky slide? That just seems very unintuitive to me, to slide with the weakest finger.

I like to play in the 'Green Key' as I like to call it (Green thru Blue, index and pinky in respective spots). However on songs when i know that there will be an Orange note before a Green then Ill just start in the 'Red Key.'

I just know the song and do what works for me there

I guess my "home" frets would be , 1 on red and 4 on orange, because I find it easy to slide or reach back, but in certain sections I stay in first position (or "Green Key") because it's easier for me.

I move around a lot, though, and sometimes when I'm just screwing around and not really trying to get anything done on the game I'll slide up to 3rd or 4th position. 3-finger La Bamba FTW!!

I do this too.

I don't exactly have any 'Home Frets'. I usually stay on if a note is coming, and if I see an orange note, I shift up to until I see a green note. I do have a really unnaturally strong pinky though, so that might effect this is you guys think its weird >_>.

After a year of pinky sliding, I'm reteaching myself with moderate success to index slide. I'm trying to make 2nd position my default position. It seems to be helping on really fast solos, but it's a nice skill to pinky slide as well.

I prefer RYBO and do a lot of sliding with my index.

I do both...even bring 1 up to yellow sometimes for fast sets, and occasionally 1 to blue for fast trills but I usually tap that. Otherwise I'm generally sitting in 2nd position and slide to green.
