Ive done several customs of the ps2 GH2 and like the idea of doing a custom of GH3 for the 360 mainly cause not many people have been able to do it.

From reading other threads on this forum from what ive heard the only reason GH3 for the xbox is so hard to custom is because of the audio format needed which is i belive xma correct me if im wrong. while searching i remember reading a post which said the gh3 pc custom software would work for everything else. (this is what my issue is)

I've just started doing a course on game design at uni and have access to xbox SDK and XNA which i can assume will have the nessicary ability to convert audio files (i believe they have to be Wavs) to the file needed.

(now to the problem)

from what i read the pc editor should allow me to change the notecharts, and once i get the file types sorted hopefully the audio files also, but as its not built for 360 customs im unsure as to which softwear i need.

using nick's guide i came to this

http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46187

which i assume is what i needed but i dont understand how i could implement these programs for use in a xbox 360 custom.

Im def not asking for a guide but any hint the the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

(i feel this question may have veered off from its origin but i dont really know how to explain it) Basically any hints on how to use GH3 pc editor to help custom the xbox version and any information people might find useful for the xbox 360 gh3 would be greatly appreciated (i.e issues they came across apart from the mp3 problem)

If a mod is unhappy with this question (or is worried that it may lead to conversations banned on this forums) feel free to lock this thread.

The link has absolutely nothing to do with Xbox 360 customs. It's for the PC edition of GH3 (even though that method's not even supported). There are no guides, tutorials, or tools on ScoreHero to customize GH3 360, so if you really want GH3 customs, just use PS2, PC, or Wii.

although correct, he that form is about PC customs, hes right. PC and xbox 360 have very similar, or even the same file types for "charts". i just read that post today, give me a min to find it.

Since the 360 and the PC version are quite identical in almost everything, it's quite possible to add customs to the 360.

yeah i read somewhere that the 2 versions were built nigh identically apart from the audio file. ill try and find the post that says the pc custom software would work apart from audio input

:edit 1 from reading more of that post u put up it seems the issue of customs on 360 is purly with audio. but its seems like an issue many other more experienced users are having. I may speak to my lecturer about file types in games and see if he can shed some light on the issue. and from what ive seen its that GH3 pc could be modified for 360 but hasnt been yet which might explain y i couldnt find much information about it.

:edit 2

so if we could just make a byte swapper similar to gorby's we wouldn't have to crack the encryption.
But we would need the wierd xbox 360 song file format first

i should hopefully have the "weird xbox 360 song file format" soon so this is the sorta thing i can assue i would have to look out for

I was curious if it is even possible to get to the charts in the PC, x360 or Wii versions? I ask because it appears that the charts for the PC/x360 and PS3 are different (minor differences) to those found on the PS2. HO/OPs and such.

Yes, the PC, x360, and wii version is possible to get charts in (for 360 ver read the link from my previous post. with PC, and Wii look at the GH3/A stickie at the top of the page and go to each guide. the actually charts you download on scorehero are all the same, but yea the file types on the game are slightly different. but the programs convert the charts on scorehero to the chart types for each game.

I was actually referring to getting the gh3 charts out of the game itself, not making a custom version of the game for one of the system types. so far I have been able to figure out how to extract the actual game mids from the PS2 version. And I've noticed that note structure is different from the PS2 version to the PS3 and PC version. And I figure since the x360 and PC versions are supposed the be the same, I figure the notes are the same. As for the Wii version, I don't know yet. But would like to be able to extract the mids from either the PC or x360 or even the Wii version to compare against to see the differences.

I hope that makes more sense.

i know ghex allowed u to extract the mids from the game but i dont know if theres a program around that allows file extraction for gh3. I personally dont see a point to do so apart from to look and be like hmm thats slightly different, i dont think doing so would be beneficial but im sure that if u searched the forums there proably is a way to extract for each version of the game

So, if im understanding you correctly, your asking for a program to copy your xbox 360 games? You mean stick them in your DVD drive and copy them? or To rebuild the iso? because apache 2/3 rebuild the iso..

What he means is he needs a program that reads the XISO file (Xbox 360 ISO) and lets you browse the contents.

If thats is what you mean, there are several programs that let you do that.

1. wx360
2. XBC (Xbox Backup Creator)

If you think that GH3 has an ARK structure, than you are sadly mistaken. The GH3 file format (for PC and 360) uses .pak.xen, .fsb.xen, and .pab.xen.

There are no ARK files in here since it isn't made by Harmonix anymore. Activision uses that structure with most of its games. Tony Hawk, if I'm not mistaken, is the same way.

Fixed. Activision is a mere publisher.
