|
|
So why do you guys think that out of all bands, Tool, has the most songs on the game?
I mean I'm not complaining, I had a really time rocking out to Vicarious and Schism, but I was thinking that obviously they didn't say "Tool obviously needs the most songs as people probably want them the most out of all bands".
I think it went more like this:
"Activision: Hey Tool, can we get Vicarious"
"Tool: Yea but the only way you're getting us in the game is if you put 3 songs AND our own venue"
"Activision: Alright yo!"
Anything official on it? _________________

I don't know. It's not like they are the perfect band on all four parts or anything. Guitar is severely lacking. Hmmm.....maybe toymachine can enlighten us. _________________

I don't see Tool demanding 3 songs and a venue.
They probably were just very cooperative and generous about the process of getting songs into the game, which is why they have 3 songs, and then from there activision decided, "well if they have 3 songs they deserve their own venue"
Thats my theory at least |

If you watch the GHWT Tool video with Adam Jones (which can be downloaded on XBL), he explains it. So yeah, it went kinda like what the OP said. _________________

To be fair, Tool is a pretty widely requested band for both GH and RB.
Their songs don't have the best guitar parts, but from what I've seen they're pretty darn good on the other three parts.
Not to mention, they rock.
That said, it is interesting that they had three songs. And I like the venue, FWIW. <_< It looks a little distracting, but it also looks awesome. _________________

Adam Jones is actually a really good guitarist, ive seen Tool in concert, and between songs, he had some killer riffs. It's just that a crazy fast solo in a Tool song just wouldn't make sense. |

Summary: Tool don't want to be represented by people. They want to be represented by art.
Scenario 1: It was decided that either they have a whole stage with one song, or they make good use of the venue and what Tool were asking, so they put another two in.
Scenario 2: Tool demanded three songs to be in the game, along with their own venue.
And here's what we can expect both companies to say.
Harmonix
"Yeah, Tool would be nice. But...a whole stage? And three songs? Hmm. We want equality for all on-disc artists. I suppose...we'll forget it."
Neversoft
"Shit, really? You'll let us license the music? That's the first time for like...12 years! Hmm? What's that? No physical characters? The art?...Hmm. I should have expected that. Well...I like Tool. Hey, guys, do you like Tool?"
"Awh, yeah"
"Totally"
"Wiiiicked"
"Well, shit, why not. Tool us up. We'll have three songs, and we'll get the artist who did those album covers. Hey, actually, we'll need a member of Tool as well to get approval on behalf of the band for everything. Uh...Why not Adam Jones? Hey, you guys like Adam Jones, don't you?"
"Awh, yeah"
"Totally"
"Wiiiicked"
"Shit, yeah! Let's do this! Thanks very much!" _________________

It may be lacking in the speed/technicality portion, but the whole sense of rhythm in their songs is great. To doubt their musicianship is silly. _________________

They should've picked some songs that would be fun to PLAY. Schism? Yeah, it's an awesome song, but you do the same damn thing for 85% of it. |

The Tool songs are disgraceful and insulting to the Guitar players.
I got a -2 on sightread of which ever song comes 2nd. And they just seem to go on and on and on. . . _________________

1) Turn off game
2) put in GH3
3) Jerk off to Dragonforce
4) Repeat

Your opinion isn't shared with about 3 million+ people I'd gather. _________________
