Band Quickplay Stuck on Bass

Hello all. You guys are my last hope for this because I cannot find any information on how to solve it. I recently reactivated my X-Box Live account just so i could play GH:WT online. I'm a expert guitarist and better than most that I play with. Yet every time (and I mean EVERY TIME) I do band quickplay it sticks me on bass, no matter what I do. Has anyone figured out how it chooses this? Thanks in advance!

I believe you have to push the orange button on the band screen to switch between Bass and Lead.

Also if both people choose the same instrument It will choose randomly... or also I heard it chooses the person with the Higher Rock Rank.
