I have mixed feeling about this. While I think that some of their songs would be awesome on Guitar Hero, I also remember how fragile and meaningful their songs are. But I say "If Tool could do it, so could Pink Floyd". I know it would piss off a lot of hardcore Pink Floyd fans.
i say this because when there was an ad for Guitar Hero World Tour posted on their myspace bulletins, every single comment was a flame saying "you f***ing sellouts". _________________

i split out the wishlists and the backseat modding, which left only the OP. It's an interesting question that might generate some discussion if people can refrain form answers like "Yes, song X would be awesome!" (take those to the wishlist thread, please.) Also refrain from single line responses like "I'm a huge fan and I think it would be awesome"
Re: the myspace bulliten - were you talking about Pink Floyd or Tool there?
I'm not sure what the "real" fans would be so upset about. I *can* see an artist, or even the guy who mixed the song originally, being wary of what an outsider (Neversoft/HMX) might do with the masters, but as a fan (which, I'm not really a *huge* fan, but I can substitute my feelings for bands I *am* a huge fan of), I think it's kind of a dick move to be upset by this.
emonerd - - maybe I just don't "get it" (again, not a huge fan, so maybe I'm missing something), but what "meaning" of the song(s) would be lost if they were included in a music game?
Genuinely curious,

These so-called Tool fans should listen to the song "Hooker With A Penis"
Would Pink Floyd be a good choice for plastic instruments? For the fans it would be- I think other people would ask where the shredding and poly rhythms were at >_>
Just like how people don't get the demand/inclusion of Radiohead or the Pixies.
Like Vance said to me- everyone wants songs that sound like dying turkeys now (referring to the endless shredding ziggies on GHTunes) _________________

I'm not a real fan of Floyd. Whenever their songs come on the radio, or switches to it on my .mp3 player it's more like "meh." From what I know, no songs just blurt out "THIS WOULD BE AWESOME FOR GUITAR HERO ...more or less the band version of Guitar Hero"
And I know this point will be refuted with X song has an awesome guitar part or whatever, but I'm just not into them. As for the meaningful lyrics, emotional songs, moving or whatever; I don't really get into any songs more than just concentrating on hitting notes. That's why when I heard Tool was in WT I knew there would be a heavy influx of people screaming that it's too boring and long. But, the one's they chose aren't. And that's where the real deal lies with having Pink Floyd in the game. I'm know every type of music has a right to be in the game, but having mellow songs is like having a "skip this song" button attached to it for any score-mongering or goal-oriented players. While this would be a major selling point to have their most well-known songs in the game, I'd rather save the pick for something more paced and fun to play, while being a good song.
I.e. look at Steely Dan's picks in RB2/WT. I'd much rather have Bodhistava over Do It Again for WT even though Do It Again is an awesome song. And that's what I'm hoping this doesn't turn out to be for Pink Floyd or other major bands not yet represent in the games. _________________

No. I don't care what the song/band is just make it hard.
It's pretty sad but that's what keeps SH happy. _________________

Well the way things are split up right now, it really depends who you're talking to. Guitarists might feel kind of "meh" about it, vocalists would probably flip their lid, bassists would probably be content and it really depends on the song for the drummer to have any emotion. I'm just saying, things aren't the way they used to. A song with a crazy guitar part might mean the most shittiest (yeah, most shittiest) vocal part or vice versa. But as for "selling out," I think it's just bull shit that non GH/RB players say to make them sound like hardcore, devoted fans, when they're really just hardcore, devoted haters of rhythm games. |

If GH became Dragonforce Hero or Michael Angelo Batio Hero I would not play it.

Not all of us our difficulty whores- I know it seems like it, but there are a large majority of people on this website who still enjoy a catchy tune with a fun riff and a slightly challenging solo.
It seems like a large unspoken majority are getting their idea of the balance of difficulty : fun pushed out the window in favour of RAWR! Difficulty : Pain.
just my opinion though. _________________

It's irrelevant whether Pink Floyd should be in Guitar Hero. They won't be. |

Why not?
Here are my thoughts... if its DLC, I'll probably pick it up, but if its a full Pink Floyd game? There is no way in hell I'm making (or letting anyone near me make the mistake for that matter) the mistake of purchasing another fucking GH: Aerosmith. I'm sorry... I don't mind Aerosmith... I really don't. I love some of their songs... but that was a horrible choice for a GH game. A Pink Floyd game would just be full of horribly unenjoyable guitar charts. Why would I buy the DLC? Because I enjoy listening to the songs, and I know my girlfriend would like singing the vocals. Also I wouldn't mind playing Comfortably Numb, Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2, or Speak to Me, Breathe (with the new multiple sustains system thingle). _________________

Because like Led Zeppelin, they refuse to let their songs be used in video games. |

Pink floyd would be great in a guitar hero game it all just depends on the song. It would really work better since there is the singing and drums option now. _________________

I can't stand when people garner some elitist view towards music where they figure it's incorporation beyond that of an album will only pollute the "purity" of the music.
If a lot of people want them in GH, then they should sure as hell be in GH.

Well, I have to say that Pink Floyd is a pretty good band, so maybe they would be in terms of listening while you play. There are some that might have pretty fun charts as well, though. I guess I have split emotions when it comes to a band like them. I guess, to answer the question directly and without much thought, I'd say "Sure, why not?" since I don't see what would make a band "not worthy" or "too worthy" to be in GH. Also, I have to agree with qirex in that I don't see why people don't like their favorite bands to be in GH. It apparently makes them worse or something. I don't like, of course, when a band gets a song that's not near their best in and it becomes their most popular. To relate the past few statements to the topic, I think that if Pink Floyd got a not-as-good song into GH, then maybe that would make the popularity of that song pretty moot to the fans, if not a bit upsetting. So maybe they "should" if they get a good song in or something. Oh well, I'm afraid I might veer off-topic if I type anymore, so I'll stop now. _________________
