|
|
I'm debating on which one to buy considering I have all Guitar Hero's and rock band's up to this point excluding GH1, and Aerosmith, and I'm also a huge Metallica fan heard every single song they've ever made, and I own the live Binge& Purge CD's. but that could be a double edged sword maybe I would get bored of GH:M very quickly. Any opinions/thoughts? |

I'd say go with Smash Hits. I was hit with this dilemma but I figured I'd get tired of Metallica while Smash Hits' diverse song list would keep me interested for a long time.
Killer Queen, Free Bird, Bark at the Moon, Raining Blood, Cowboys from Hell, Nothin' But a Good Time, and more really make this game extremely fun AND challenging. |

If you want harder songs, a longer setlist, and more X+ drum charts, go Metallica.
If you want diversity, some amazing songs, or if you don't own any or most of the older games, get Smash Hits. _________________

I am a huge Metallia fan, but I like smash hits better. It has more diversity. I got tired of Metallica within weeks. Master of Puppets, Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, One, The Unforgiven, and all the others get sort of old after playing them for a week or so. I have nothing against Metallica. I am actually a huge fan, but many of their songs sounds somewhat similar. Smash Hits just has more variety, and a greater overall setlist. _________________

I'm getting the consensus that Smash Hits has more lasting appeal but I was just wondering if it get's old or not because ALL of the songs are in other games lol. |

It is all the best songs from the other games. Neversoft/Beenox/whoever it was really picked all the best songs which surprised me. EVERY song in the game is fun to play. They have enough variety to keep you interested. Going from Raining Blood to More Than a Feeling to Cowboys from Hell to Free Bird should show you how mach variety there is. Look over the setlist if you haven't yet. I rented it planning on having it for about 3-4 days and I am on my 6th day. _________________

I'd go with Smash Hits, since it's more epic . Really, Metallica has a lot of long, boring songs, while the setlist in SH is pure awesomeness. _________________

Wow you're good. :P |

I sure am, although I only got First Blood and Beast and the Harlot 5 * without SP, among other stuff like beating a song on drums Expert + and 150 songs played. _________________

It's not really plausible to say SHits on merit that it has more replay value considering it has been out for less than a month.
You said you have all but GH1 so I would get Metallica. It is ridiculously fun to play and even though the songs themselves drag on for 8-9 minutes a lot of the time, they are generally interesting and fun throughout.
Edit: If you love Metallica I would recommend it even higher. I hate them with a passion with few songs as exceptions and thouroughly enjoy the game. _________________

Metallica. It felt like the first game that deserved to be called "Guitar Hero" for a LONG time.
But buy GH1 before either of them.

I got them both the day they came out. I got sick of SH after a few days, but I still play GH:M quite a bit. GH:M is a much better value and has (IMO) the perfect level of difficulty. |

you can't go wrong it's not like one sucks and the other is amazing. presentation wise i'd give it to gh:m, the metallica animations are purely amazing. however each game has very memorable songs. if i were you though i'd keep checking for deals on the games because it seems like every weeek they are having some awesome sale on some of the guitar hero's, so maybe you can snag a good deal and get two for around the same price. _________________
