Well, it's getting close to my favorite day of the year. The day when the state of Minnesota ignores fireworks laws and for one day lights up the skies with our own special brand of northern lights. I've always had a fascination with fireworks and its effect on people; the beauty, the deafening blasts of a shell leaving its mortar and exploding into a million pieces, the look on people's face when they get to see something that is so rare and spectacular to see up close. Since my town is not having an official fireworks display due to budget restraints, I felt I needed to step it up a notch this year:
Not exactly a huge amount, but it was a pretty expensive purchase for one person to make. I'll post a video afterwards of how it went
Anyone else purchase fireworks in any amount for the 4th? Have the same fascination with fireworks as I do? Tell us about it! _________________

That's a nice collection of explos-errm... I mean fireworks you got there. My sister's BF and I normally make our own fireworks by mixing and mashing them into one big one. Other years it's amazing (it goed boom) but hopefully this year will be even better. We're starting to make it tonight. _________________

Any area im in will most likely scale down the fireworks displays due to the economic crisis. Recession ftl _________________

Illinois is so paranoid and hard assed about firework laws, everyone just goes to Indiana to get the fireworks. My friend builds his own with his brothers, so I'm just gonna go to his house on the 4th and launch them there. _________________

You know you're an asshole for posting this, right?
Any thing that flies or explodes is illegal in NC.
It's like you're teasing me. /baww
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to vids. _________________

Wow, that's really a nice collection you got there, Ouzo! In my country, such explosives are a rarity , but at least we get our fun for the New Year, my friends and me will find a way to get A LOT of fireworks and these things:
Sorry for not knowing how they're called in English .......
I really love these, but carefulness is always required! I have never hurt myself with them, and I never did anything like "hey make it blow in your hand". Fun times . _________________

Each year me and my family usually get $500 worth of fireworks. But at the place we shop at, if you buy $500 worth of fireworks, you get to pick out $125 of free stuff. So we usually have a huge amount of fireworks. But this year we toned it down a little We still have a lot of stuff, but not as many as the years before.
And the 4th of July is my second favorite holiday of the year. _________________

I don't go out of my way to take off on the 4th every year, but when I am off, a buddy of mine and I will go over to Alabama and drop a hundred or so on stuff. We always have to buy the crappy-doesn't-do-anything colorful stuff for the girls in our group of friends.
I have a fascination with fire in general. So things that go boom FROM fire interest me even more.
Ever see the video of the guys who tied around 75 roman candles together into a cannon? _________________

Economic Recession strikes again
Anyways, I like fireworks, because they contain fire and explosions and then there's pretty lights after the first and explosion _________________

fireworks are ok as far as I know of in NH. Every third and fourth of July there are lots of firework festivities that go off without a hitch.
However, it's been raining since May, and I'm not sure if it's doable this year. _________________

What do they do? They look like mini-flares or something.

Yep, that's what I did. It's also nice because it gives me an excuse to stop by Stillwater which is a pretty cool town.
I have only shopped at Phantom, but I hear ads for Fireworks City in Baldwin, WI all the time. You ever been there? If so, how are the fireworks there?

I'm not American, so no fireworks for the 4th of July for me, but I bought a decent amount for use out at the cabin this summer! |
