and it sucks major balls. some guy at the arcade was hella good at it though.
but i hated how it was these tiny ass lines and i couldn't even hear the guitar. plus it's all j-pop bs songs.
anyways i told the guy i'd take my GH any day and he said "man gh is weak, it just copied this game" so i replyed with "yeah, copied the idea of a guitar game and made it good."
silly arcade freaks. |

Yeah, I've always wondered if that game was any good. Is it the same basic gameplay then, only with 3 buttons? _________________

sort of...in GH you see the fret buttions coming towards you..in GF you see lines go up the screen vertically, and they are flat, just like the arrows in DDR...but you use the 3 buttons, red, blue, green, and you just basically whail as fast as you can on the strummer. it wasn't much fun for myself, being such a GH fan. but GF has real power cords, which GH2 will have.
but overall i had 0 fun and wasted $1 on GF. but i recommend you try it for yourself if you can. |

The original power chord concept was simply a harmony consisting of two notes creating an interval of a fifth. As such, power chords are not necessarily chords in the strictest sense. Although it is not uncommon for power chords to be formed as three notes consisting of an octave doubled root and the fifth above the root, the standard power chord consists only of a root and the fifth about the root. In general, any set of intervals is considered to be a power chord so long as the intervals are fifths.
Semantics aside, three note chords aren't very impressive in Guitar Freaks considering that the controller only has three buttons. There isn't very much challenge in hitting all three buttons at once if you never have to move your hand position or remove a finger from a previously pressed button.
That being said, I hope that they limit three button chords in GH2 to places in the songs where actual chords are being played like in rhythm parts. Imagine replacing all of the 16th note doublestops in BatM with full chords. _________________

I just played guitar freaks for the first time last week at a local arcade. I have to agree 100% with the OP... in addition to that the guitar is super heavy and clunky.. it has a strap so the weight isn't an issue but it just feels really klunky to play, and the fret buttons are very small. I didn't know what good songs to play on it were, I was picking them at random and found a couple of ok ones but all of the songs pretty much sucked.... That kind of music is fine for DDR because it has a strong dance beat, etc.. but for a guitar game you should have great guitar songs. |

I've always been fond of the "BE A TRUE GUITAR LEGEND!!!!!!!" sign they have on top of the game.
Like I'm going to become a legend by playing techno pop with three fingers that never move. _________________

Yes but if you DID become a guitar legend doing it that way, think of how renowned you would be! |

Yeah, there's a difference. He didn't play with a 3-fret guitar. _________________
