If you want to fix it yourself, someone is going to need to hook a DMM to the pot to test the min and max resistance values.

To answer your question about the pedal, yes, I think all you would have to do is short them. I haven't tried this, but it seems logical. One way to find out though.

i think i have a fix to the problem, this piece pictured needs to be adjusted. as it is now, i believe it's not registering a "0" in the whammy rest position.
