So I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a kit buy till all you ingenious brainiac rhythm gamers figured out what the best kit was for both GH:WT and RB2.

Clearly neither company is capable of making a decent kit that doesn't have to be sent back as soon as you plug it in so assuming money isn't a concern what is the best option?

Modded GHWT or RB2 kit? What do you have to do to it to make it not suck?

The Ion? Mods?

Goodwoods?

Or does it have to be something like a Roland Electronic kit with some mods/adapters to make it work for both?

I'll be scouring the relevant message boards for answers but any help/direction would be appreciated.

The best kit is probably the IONs or the GoodWoods.

Personally, my RB2 kit I just got (PS3 QM) is flawless, though.

Just make sure that you have a yellow hi-hat to the left of the red pad if you go with anything but the WT set.

Another option is to get a WT kit and plug an electronic kit in the midi port on the back and get the perfect kit that way.[/quote]

All I have at the moment is a beat up RB1 set with rubber pads and a metal pedal.

I would like to play WT without compression to 4 pads. I guess this rules out the RB2 and Goodwood kits?

Leaning towards the ION (with symbol expansion, aftermarket pedal and some kind of drum brain?) or a cheap E-Kit if it isn't too difficult to mod. I really don't want to work too hard on this, I just want to plug it in and get the most out of both games without switching kits.

Do I have to get a WT kit just for the midi port or is there a simple alternative?

So after entirely too much time using the search function, the way to go for RB2 and uncompressed WT play is an electronic kit plugged into the WT kit midi port (which will also work with RB2)

The stock kits are too unreliable and fragile for my gorilla pounding and you can do better for the price of the Ion (once you buy the brain) with a decent starter kit.

So I guess the last question that I need answered is if I REALLY have to buy the WT kit just for the midi port or is there another option (that doesn't involve buying the WT kit) that you clever gamers have already discovered/created?

well i know that im about to invest into the good woods, and that the few times i played WT drums i didnt really like them (just as loud as the RB1 drums)

Its really all about what you prefer. The ion is to expensive and you could practically make one for cheaper. like buying good woods and the Destroyer pedal (i think thats it) would be less than 250

GoodWoods = $149.00 + Shipping
Destroyer = $74.99 + Shipping

Its pretty cheap.

here are the links.

Pedal. - http://rockbandpedal.net/

I hope i helped you some.

So to play WT uncompressed to 4 lanes I pretty much HAVE to get the WT drum kit (whether I plug an electronic kit into the midi port or not).

Is anyone working on a fix? Like the MSA-P, Midi Rocker or J5 midi interface for the RB?

Guess I'll start scouting for a decent e-kit on e-bay.

I think he has the right idea, but I would recommend the Value Pedal MK1 (http://www.valuepedal.com/) which is $15 cheaper and has free ground shipping.

The Value Pedal also has a 30-day guarantee, and money back. I think I've found the one true rival to the Rock Pedal. Beware, KMD...

Along with this, it also has a 1-year parts warranty. Anything will be fixed, free of charge.
