Come watch me play Guitar Hero!!!

Latest Update:
10-24-12
Wow, last update almost 2 years ago. Been messing around with GHA and GHWoR the past couple of days. I got a handful of new WoR FCs and there's still tons I can do on plenty of the other games. I'm going to work on getting what I can out each game right now. No focus on 5 starring TtFaF...not even going to think about it at the time being. When these WoR songs get harder, I'll post some progress reports. I need 21 more WoR FCs to get half the game. I still have the 5 from GH1, which I may never be able to get. I'm not going to think about them til after WoR is finished. It may be hard to resist at that point.
11-15-10
GHVH is done. I got Sick, Sick, Sick and The End of Heartache tonight for 23 and 24. I was drunk, so it must have been easy. GH1, here I come.
11-14-10
Man, this feels good. I got 3 of my final GHVH FCs in the past couple of days. I got Come to Life on Friday, which was way easier than the breakdown would suggest. I got it on my 3rd run, cold. I hadn't played it since my sightread. Anyway, last night I ended up FCing Cathedral after about 5 or 6 runs, then I FCed I Want it All on my 3rd run. I was streaming for the Cathedral FC, but I stopped streaming after Llama and The B-O-D were the only ones to show up in an hour. Llama was only there for like 10 minutes, and The B-O-D was streaming, so I just went to his stream. Looks like Ustream is dead on the GH front.
After the recent FCs, all I have left is 2 on GHVH, which I should be able to get the next time I sit down to play. The End of Heartache and Sick Sick Sick are kinda overdue...and not hard at all. That leaves me with the 5 on GH1, which I gotta admit, I'm kinda nervous about.
At any rate, here's the promised SCoM pic. I'm proud of this one:
11-9-10
FINALLY, I got the GH2 HGFC. I got Woman on my 3rd run of the night. Now I'm getting GH2 separation anxiety. I really want to bang out the COWS, LTMR, and (especially) SCoM (stupid 100% OS!!) FCs for a nice even 40. I'm no masochist, though. I will leave it be for now. That was long time coming, and I expect many congrats !!!
EDIT:
WOW, FC drought for ages, then Woman and SCoM in one night? In 1 hour!?!? WTF???
I FCed past the solo twice in three runs and missed the last note in that trill in the Bridge both times . The next run, after a little Bridge practice , BAM, FC!!! UNBELIEVABLE night for me. LTMR anyone?
Pic coming tomorrow, cause I might not believe it myself when I wake up in the morning!!!

Sorry, I want to keep this thing organized and overall easy to read. I didn't mean for it to come off as this big epic thing, I'll whittle down some of the flowery stuff (like the props section) later. I just think that everyone has influences from SH that motivate them to get better. Why else would you be here?
SPinD0cter wrote: | Hey man, good luck in all that you try to accomplish. I mean I guess this is what this thread is for.
Don't worry The Way It Ends is all arm strength and TTFaF well... is just TTFaF. Don't worry if you strive hard enough you'll get them. |
Thanks, I appreciate the push. TWIE is killing me. I feel like I should be able to get it, but I refuse to learn to burst strum that fast. I have been trying to do it with a steady alt-strum, and have been able to get really close, but I can't quite reach it. Now that I've gone back to GH2 and I'm bound and determined to 5* Six, I hope I can earn some endurance that help me finally get this bastard.
As for TTFAF, at least I like to play it. I have just now gotten to where I can consistently pass it and can get to Twin Solos before I have to use SP. I use to have to use some SP at the beginning of Herman's and hope to God that I got 2 phrases before the Twin Solos. I can now start using SP on Grinding Scales, which should help raise my score a little. I just can't consistently hit any of it yet to keep a very good combo. _________________

Nice-looking thread you've got here (no, I'm not just saying that because you gave me a shout-out, although I did appreciate it ). You probably know I'm a bit of a formatting junkie, so it always makes me happy when people take the time to make their threads look nice. Speaking of formatting:
oddlyuneven wrote: | Also, can someone tell me how to do the strike-throughs on text? For example, I would like to mark through the 5 songs on GH2 that I five-starred, then remove them later. Any help, guys? |
You have to use HTML for this (ScoreHero's formatting tags won't do it), but the code is pretty simple:Code: | <s>Struck-through text</s> |
Comes out as: Struck-through text
Also, I read through your reasons for starting the thread, and I have to say that if my experience is any indication you're on the right track to be very satisfied with the results. As long as you intend to continue to put effort into maintaining this thread and responding to the people who post in it (and making yourself at least somewhat visible around the forums) you should be able to get a core group of people posting in here who care about the things you do. I don't know what it is about having people care about what you do, but I really saw my abilities at these games skyrocket when I started my thread. Here's hoping yours does too; I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see .
Oh, and nice job on the new five-stars! _________________

No problem. The funny thing about this post, and the one before it, is that when I created this thread, I fought with myself about whether or not to leave some of that stuff in there or not. I was actually worried that I may come across as a suck-ass or something , because I really don't know any of the guys I posted about. So I guess I may have been paranoid about the way this thread might be received. But I definitely didn't mean anything about it. I was tickled pink to get any responses at all because I don't know many people here on SH. Well, let me rephrase that, not many people here on SH know me. I lurch around the forums and keep up with a lot of the other acc. threads. I read the TSG forums constantly, too.
But anyway, I really appreciate the post, and the compliments!!! And thanks for being my first poster!!! Stick around, I aim to please!!!

Again, I really appreciate the compliments. And again, I hope I'm not coming across as an ass-kisser, especially since you and I have had limited interactions. I always appreciate your input, here or elsewhere. Thanks for the formatting help, too. I fixed it and it looks much better now. If you have any other tips, please don't hesitate.

Oh, and nice job on the new five-stars! |
This is exactly what I'm hoping for. I've been sort of a forum lurcher for a while, but I am definitely going to try to interact more. About the new 5*'s...The last time I played GH2 was when I 5*ed the main setlist. It was about 3:00am and I was pretty amped about Misirlou and PbFo so I just stayed up and started going through the bonus songs. I played most of them and was just aiming to pass them. I literally played all of them one time and one time only, and I 3 and 4 starred a lot of them. The only one I played more than once was Jordan, and that was for the 360 achievement. It was really just a matter of going back and getting them, which is what I did the other night. Maybe it was the first positive sign from my new thread. _________________

Aww, I'm touched by the shout-out. I'm glad I inspire you and I wish you luck in your GH endeavors.
Anyways, I can't believe that someone else ACTUALLY struggled with 5*ing Thunderhorse. I always thought it was just me. But yeah, you'll get it without too much trouble, it eventually becomes easy. Six, though, is a monster of a chart. It's a great feeling to actually get it, though. _________________

Yeah, I've only played it a few times, maybe 4 or 5, but I can tell it's going to be tons easier than Six or Jordan. I actually don't think Jordan will be that bad, it'll just be a matter of combining a good run outside of the skittles with actually passing the song. I can already tell that's going to be a pain in the ass. I'll end up nailing everything up until the solos, then fail out. I can't get to where I can consistenty pass that song, I just flail like a mad-man!!!
Six is like Raining Blood for me. I frickin' hate playing that chart!!! The worst part about 5*ing songs like that is actually talking yourself into playing them!!! _________________

Nice job on passing these songs. DWDTG is really hard!
I know what you mean when you say you don't like playing Six. It's very hard and hurts your arm. Force yourself to give it a run every once in a while and it'll happen.
Jordan is basically a steal if you FC outside of the hard parts. It may take a few passes, but shouldn't be all too bad.
Thunderhorse isn't too bad at all once you understand what you're doing. _________________

Great job on passing those songs. They may seem like turds to play at first, but you will come to like them a lot. I personally think they're the best for improving general skill. |

great job on the pass my friend! those were my 2 most recent passes too. only songs I haven't passed on GH2-GHM is Jordan and TTFAF. I passed the dragonforce pack a few months ago when I got my xbox 360, and just passed DWDTG about 3 weeks ago. Isn't it a great feeling?
Reading your OP makes me want to start an accomplishment thread. Thanks for the inspiration and great job again! |

Jees, thanks for all the support, guys. I thought this would be looked over by most because I'm pretty sure I'm the last SH'er to pass these songs . I really appreciate all the congrats!!!

You know, I think that's going to be one of my biggest problems. I just hate playing these burst strumming songs (TWIE, too!!). It's hard to make myself play them. I know I could get both 5*'s, but I usually save playing them until I've played all the other crap I want to play and I'm just about to turn the XBox off, you know?

I like them now, they just kick my ass most of the time .

I'm miles away from a 5*, but I really hope that doesn't happen to me. You know now that you mention it, I know this poor bastard that did that...oh...wait a minute...never mind .

I actually posted this in another thread a few days ago. For Jordan, just learn Solo A. If you can get a full bar of SP and come out of solo A in the high yellow or low green, it's a breeze. I assume the intro to TTFAF is what's holding you up because you obviously don't have any trouble soloing if you can pass the other DF songs. I am getting fairly consistent with it now, but it took tons of work. And I just love to play the song, so I don't mind to put in the work for it. Good luck with both!!!

Uh...yes!!!

Garsh, thanks . Start one up and stick with it. Mine's brand spanking new, but I intend to keep it updated regardless of whether it gets many posts or not. Good luck!!! _________________

I tell you what oddly, I will start a thread in the next few days and we can post in each others. Sounds kinda ghey but it'll keep me motivated to keep improving (you are way ahead of me right now but a friendly rivalry could only help both of us).
and yes intro to TTFAF kills me (I work on tapping every few days but it is going nowhere) and I will work on jordan solo A. I am currently working on 4 starring the DF pack. I have gotten OGAP but need some work on the others. I look forward to your next update buddy! |

When I saw this thread, I was thinking: "Why make a accomplishment thread of passing a song that many people can FC?"
Now that I read some of it, I understand completely.
Prepare for improvement, now that you have passed TDWDTG you'll
play it over and over again, resulting a big boost in your skill.
Good luck _________________
