I need this new album so bad; I've been spamming A Rite of Passage for most of the night

...and most of Systematic Chaos
...and Octavarium
...and Images and Words

Shame I don't play CoD in any way, shape or form; it would've been awesome to speak to the band. Can't wait for the new album, I'm hoping the 'epics' are as good as usual (In the Presence of Enemies is probably one of my favourite songs currently).

I'll see if anywhere in town has the album tomorrow (changing bank turned out to be convenient!)

Bruce Dickinson radio interview with Mike Portnoy regarding Black Clouds and Silver Linings.

I love Bruce. "I listen to it even in the bath that's how good I think it is!".

ROFL.
Bruce: "This next track is Wither, do you know what this one is about Mike?"
Mike: "It's about 5 minutes"

XD! That's the second time I've seen him do that, once on his forums and now on this interview.

I just took a listen to the full album yesterday. Heres my opinion:
I've decided to listen to a bunch of albums over the summer to give more bands a chance/hear more music by bands I like. Yesterday I decided that I would give DT a try with their new album. Before I listened to it the only DT songs I had heard were: The Glass Prison, Constant Motion, Panic Attack, and Pull Me Under. I never bothered to give them a chance, mostly because they are labeled Progressive Metal from most people and I'm am not a Metal fan. So yesterday, when I listened to the album I was surprised. I was very happy with the music and enjoyed all of the epics and the 2 non-epics as well. The music was great, the solos were awesome, the drums were intense and the songs were just amazing. All I can say is I am now a DT fan. You guys won't be disappointed.

TL;DR- Didn't care for DT, this album turned me into a fan. I liked the album a lot.

Musically, The Count of Tuscany is possibly my favorite DT song ever. The lyrics don't exactly have the feeling that A change of seasons, or Octavarium had, but they are still amazing.

That song takes you on a journey emotionally because the story it tells is about a life changing journey. It works.

ALSO, You absolutely need to have the three disk edition. The instrumental mixes are incredible. Mostly I guess because DT writes all of the music before the lyrics.

I just went on the Video Marketplace for 360 and they had 4 new DT vids. They were a video showing the drum setup and Portney describing it, a video showing the guitars, a video of them discussing the tour and a video of describing the making of an album. I only got to see the drum and guitar one and thought it was really cool.

I think so. Usually places like Walmart,Target or Best Buy usually have it on release day.

Well I'm tired right now, so I won't really go in depth. And the only one that I've had the chance to listen to a few times over is The Shattered Fortress, and I have one thing to say in short:

Holy Sweet Mother of Jesus!

In longer form: this song just grabs you by the balls and does not let go until it settles down into the re-dub of the repentance riff (about 7 minutes in). The song is easily on par with The Glass Prison, which IMO was the best song of the entire suite, The re-use and re-done versions of the old riffs and lyrics just fit perfectly to make this almost like on giganticly epic reprise, and in a good way too.

EDIT: Also, the last minute of the song is so simple, yet so damn cool.
