|
|
I've created a new wiki formatting syntax for easily writing out note patterns using the same freticons that are available on the forums.
The syntax is very similar to code blocks, except it uses dollar signs instead of percent signs. Here's how a simple freticon block might look:
Code: | $$(guitar)
OOOOBBOOOOBYOOOOBYOOOOBYOOOOBYBBBBYRYYYYRGGGGGGG(RY)(RY) B (RY) (RY) (RY) B (RY) B OOBBOBYRGGRYBBOBYYO BYO
$$ |
For more examples, see the wiki article here: Wiki Freticons
Here's several notes about the syntax:
- Spaces indicate spacing between notes, so if you want a larger space, simply press spacebar multiple times.
- Chords must be enclosed in parenthesis or otherwise will be processed as single notes without any spacing between them.
- You may press enter and space out the frets on multiple lines for better readability (of your code), and the fret images will still appear all in the same line.
- The "~" character may be used to create a line break and cause the displayed notes to go down to the next line.
- If you make an error in your syntax, an error should be shown to indicate where; otherwise you'll see the notes!
Here is another useful conversion tool for porting forum freticons over to the wiki:
We'll likely extend the syntax over time to develop support for sustains and starpower. Also right now, only "guitar" works as a freticon selection (after the opening "$$"), but we plan on adding support for RB guitar and drums as well.
Feel free to play with the syntax and have fun with freticons on your user pages. But ultimately this should help towards converting and compiling song technique guides on the wiki.
Enjoy! _________________

This looks to be a welcome addition to the wiki. I wasn't expecting this at all, to be honest. _________________

Great! A huge step in the right direction towards efficient guide migration. Thanks! _________________
