wow missed another tournament in New Hampshire
there was one last week in North Haverill NH also, at a fair they were having and i missed the sign ups, i had no idea about it but just saw the people playing at the fair, total facepalm moment though, cause i believe the person that won only got like 250k on stricken (was a gh3 tourny) in the finals and won a damn Wii, really I would have blown the thing out if i had known about it =( _________________

Too bad the rules sound like a cluster... (bold emphasis mine)
Quote: | GUITAR HERO V
1 vs 1 and to be contested on a Xbox 360.
We will provide guitars for all competitors, if needed. Competitors can use their own guitars, Pro-Face Off.
Pro-Face Off settings when gamers compete on same difficulty.
SEMI-FINALS and FINALS MUST BE PLAYED ON PRO-FACE OFF
2/3 Games (3/5 for Championship Round).
Single Elimination.
High Score Wins.
All songs must be agreed upon.
No Bonus Songs allowed until Semi-Finals and Finals.
Semi-Finals and Finals must be played on Pro-Face Off with gamers agreeing on difficulty, hard or expert.
Anyone using a "modded" guitar will be instantly disqualified.
Rules are subject to change at anytime by a MGC tournament manager.

He/She was talking about the one in NH. And that whole "modded guitar" thing upsets me because they probably think that hardwiring a guitar is one of the worst mods you can do. By reading the rules, it's pretty obvious that they don't really know much about the game, but whatever. It's unfortunate that the tournaments with the most prize money are often the most poorly run tournaments (other than WCG). I think immediately of Harrah's tournament (definitely one of the worst) all of these tournaments that give away game consoles, and now this one. Bummer really. _________________

What the hell. The second SoCal event was supposed to be in San Diego, then it changed to Los Angeles, which was weird. Then I was getting ready to leave to I don't know where because they don't seem to post addresses on the main website, when I noticed it had changed back to San Diego. Long story short, I didn't go. It was also nice when the Anaheim event moved to a DIFFERENT STATE. This is the most poorly run tournament I've ever heard of and marks a great first and last tournament experience for me >_> |

I went to one of these a few years back and it completely sucked.
There was about 4 people that showed up, and the finals were playing mississippi queen on hard. The winner was probably the only person who acutally owned gh, got like 98% on it or something and the other kid stopped playing and walked away halfway through. I came like a half hour late (well actually I was an hour early from the scheduled start time, but they decided to start before their start time because "no one showed up" hmm maybe that's because IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE STARTED YET) Their online rules said that the finals were supposed to be like 3 set songs (I think it was Rabl, TTFAF, and Knights of Cydonia) and it was supposed to be played on HS2 unless otherwise agreed on. The people their had no idea what they were doing, and the girl who won was basically telling the people how the tournament should be set up (because she worked their too, i think, but wasn't running the gh part) Honestly I would've probably thought that all this was kind of funny if it hadn't cost me 60$ in gas to get there and back, and I essentially got cheated out of a 150$ prize I (probably, don't know for sure, since it was over before it was supposed to start) would've won. /rant
TL;DR: The tournament was very poorly run, not legit at all and the winner of a 150$ prize could only manage a 300k score on TTFAF (in her defense though, she said she's mostly an RB vocalist, and probably would've beaten me on that :P) _________________
